Tymbo, sorry to ask this here but I can't PM you.

How long did it take Apple to update the details on the website. Mine is being replaced and I don't have to return the old one until the new one arrives but the website has not updated.

Cheers.

Maybe it was you that I read about that from.... when I read that somewhere, I was jealous that they would send you a new one right away and you wouldn't have to return the old one til you get the new one.

But to answer your question, the updates were immediate. They list the tracking numbers on the apple status order page once it ships. I so happened to have gotten the receipt from fedex that included teh tracking number of the imac that I returned back to them, and it appears it was standard ground shipping.

When I got home, I called Apple and was assured that my computer has expedited shipping, but I forgot to ask them how long until they would actually send out my iMac. I don't want to bother them, so I'm just going to wait patiently til Apple receives my defected iMac.

I think you should call apple at 1800myapple, say "shipping" to the robot, and ask them why your computer hasn't been built and shipped yet.

It is in my opinion that Apple will not send a new mac until they've receive the old one so as to make sure you really sent everything back.

I have an email from them stating the case. I will ring them tomorrow. BTW, I am in the UK.

Anyone get their replacement past "Not yet shipped" yet? So far only one person, and that's gasport, with his replacement arriving Monday.

Well I have done this sort of exchange before with other companies. They just ask for a back up credit card and will not charge it unless you do not return the item. If they can't charge the credit card then they will go after you of course. But when I did it , it was never for this high of dollar amount and that was why I was surprised that Apple did that.

I called in today asking why my replacement had not been shipped yet, and they told me that they want to receive the return before sending out a replacement.

sigh, that's the easy and false way out.
tomorrow will be one full week since I returned my iMac.

How is everyone else's replacements going?

im going to go on a limb and say what they told you was wrong.
When I got my penryn MBP replaced with my unibody, they asked for my CC number for backup, signed a paper saying I will be charged if I dont return old computer and sent out the new unibody immediately. Then I returned my penryn.

However if you didnt sign a statement with them saying they can hold you liable and crap, as soon as your original computer is in the fedex system and in fedex possession, they would start the replacement process of making your new iMac, so im not sure why they told you they have to physically receive it first..

My replacement is currently in production and I should receive it before May 6th. I have not returned the old one yet.

I've just ordered my replacement this morning. The after sales lady was very nice, I believe her name was Rebecca. Unlike the support person I spoke to who was extremely unpleasant to speak to - very condescending and unhelpful.

Rebecca has promised to expedite the replacement as much as possible so hopefully the new one will be here and working soon and the "paperweight" can fly back home to be somebody else's refurb.

Will update progress.

I called apple support yesterday afternoon and ordered the replacement imac. They told me TNT would have called me within two days in order to ask me when to come and get the computer... 'till now no one called and on the order status page there's no info of the replacement shipping.

The replacement does not show up on the order page. TNT rang today but I have already told Apple I will not be returning the Mac until I have the new one.
