I have 140 mb left on my 4 gig. No regrets here. Nothing else I need to have. Thats 3 movies and 370 songs or so.

If the rumored software upgrades to the iphone happen those with 4 gigs will be at an extreme disadvantage.

This was the exact reason why I got the 8 gig one, there seems to be a lot of features that will be either added or refined.
It also should keep it's resell value much better.

I would only worry about having 8gb's if you plan on using it as a primary iPod, or if you travel a lot and would use it for watching movies, etc.

...at least that was my thinking

I bought an 8 gig one in case Apple adds programs/ext in the future and my iPhone needs the space.

I know...may be excessive but why take the chance?

I read somewhere that Apple was waiving the 10% restock fee on iPhones. Might want to do a search.

I have a 4gb and it's fine for me, I figured a first gen device I'll just go for the cheaper maybe if I get the second gen then I'll get the biggest one.

About Apple gouging people over the cost of flash -- isn't Apple a company that is interested in, well, profit? If they know we'll pay for one - then yeah, they're gonna get what they can. Simple Gnome Economics.

Step 1: Create Iphone
Step 2:
Step 3: Profit!

That said - I took the "hit" for 8G - as I anticipated updates and what not. I mean, I was dropping 500 for a phone, why chicken out at 4 Gigs?
