Any word yet if the 2nd Generation iPad Pros can playback the 4K HDR content from iTunes? Would LOVE this!!!!!

I’m on a 2017 non Pro 2017 iPad here running iOS 11 Gold Master from the public beta. I’m seeing the Dolby Vision logo on my iTunes purchase of Fantastic Beasts. I’m not aware of support for Dolby Vision outside of Apple TV 4K in the Apple eco system. Will be interested to see if and how the current gen iPad Pro handles this as I was already considering upgrading to one.

It looks like HDR iTunes content is downloadable/playable on the iPad Pros! Found this in the settings on the GM!

Very curious my copy of the Martian isn’t showing the HDR tag yet :(

I’m seeing my HDR tag on The Martian via the UK store if that’s any help

And excellent find on the HDR switch in settings; just need clarification via playback from someone’s im sold and putting in an order

Great - looks like USA isn’t enabled yet, the OS does look like it is ready to play that content on iPads which is awesome!

The A9 is the oldest SOC that had a 4K decoder, so any "Pro" iPad or entry 2017 iPad should be able to support it.

Makes sense since the oldest iPhone to shoot 4K is the 6S (which had an A9) and the last Apple TV did not support 4K because it was running off an A8.

Seeing tags on a few more films now in my library. Independence Day HDR10, Lego Batman Movie Dolby Vision. So far it’s looking like Fox are supporting HDR10 whilst Warner Bros are going with Dolby Vision.

Temepted to try Martions since I’ve been reading this thread.

Found the download HDR setting.

And Martion hdr via movies store.

Considerations...

The rich deep oranges of the Martian surface coupled with the equally deep black but still detailed shadows impresses. Lego Batman Movie pushes the hole HDR (Dolby Vision in this case) into the eye searing, intentionally of course.

Just need Blade Runner HDR on iTunes now

The HDR option does not show on the settings menu of iOS 11 on my iPad Pro 9.7”. Movies summary page shows 4k and HDR...

I downloaded one of the movies but I’m not sure that HDR is playable on the A10X... anyone tried on their first gen iPad Pro?

Only the second gen Pro models have HDR screen.

Showing as 4K Dolby Vision on the UK store. Hopefully the store content metadata will be harmonised across the regions this week and I’d be surprised if Apple didn’t host a dedicated link on the iTunes Store from page to showcase 4K, HDR and Dolby Vision films.
