Good news on the 4K boot screen front. Cross posting this on a couple of different threads to get the word out:

On a hunch I installed the developer beta of macOS High Sierra and it updated my nMP's Boot ROM version from MP61.0116.B25 to MP61.0116.B44. Now the option key drive picker boot screen works on my Dell P2715Q monitor. I imagine it will work on the similar Dell P2415Q. I don't know how many times I've had to boot blind and then inevitably end up in the recovery partition which takes forever to boot before I give up and plug in the HDMI cable. Plus the Dell monitor is stupidly unresponsive to it's buttons during this time -- who writes this code? That aggravation is now mostly gone. Whew.

Note I installed High Sierra to an external drive because I have not researched the implications of using High Sierra so early. You can also install to a separate partition on your main drive if you have enough space.

Also bumping this to report basically the same thing. 4K Boot screens are now working for me on my 2013 Mac Pro after upgrading to High Sierra. This is really helpful because now I don't need to blindly hold option, wait a bit and press buttons on a blank screen to load boot camp. (I always use the OS picker since I prefer macOS being the default)

This is literally one of the only threads I've found on this topic, and it was one of the first things I noticed after switching to a 4K monitor so I'm glad it's finally fixed.

Sorry, I can't help with the size you're looking for - there's hardly any available at that size that aren't basically TVs. However, just in case you reconsider the size...

I have a couple of the Dell P2715Q displays hooked up to my nMP, and they show the boot screen. I have filevault enabled. I use bootcamp as well, and I can hold the option key down at startup, and I see the boot drives listed.

The P2715Q (and the smaller P2415Q) are really great, though both of mine suffer from slow wake from sleep (not the Mac itself, but the displays) and occasionally the bug where the displays go to sleep and then one of them won't turn back on until physically disconnected from power (I hooked mine up to a separate surge protector so I can just flip a switch - happens once or twice a week). It's an annoyance, but part of being on the bleeding edge in display technology. Not sure if that's something that can be fixed through a future Mac update or whether it's a bug in Dell's firmware.

I've had them for about 4 months now, and I could never go back to "normal" screens.

You don’t say what resolution or hrz you are using. That makes the difference. I have a Mac Pro 2012 with Nvidia k5000 and the same dell monitor and cannot see boot screen at 4K 60 hertz

Can you tell me what resolution and at what hertz and what cable and graphics card.

On my LG 43UD79-B 43" 4K monitor I just disable DisplayPort 1.2 from the monitor menu whenever I need to option boot. It's an easy workaround. I love this giant monitor.

You replied to multiple posts talking about nMP, which is the 2013 model. You say in your post that you have the 2012 model.

4K Boot screen support over DisplayPort 1.2 was added to the 2013 Mac Pro with a firmware update. It was not added to older models. You will not get this feature on the older model, it did not receive the same update.
