I can see 2160p videos on my iPads and iPhone for now. Hope it stays. Hopefully it won't be long on the Mac after Big Sur is released.

When you click on the latest Doug DeMuro review and check the maximum quality with your MAIN account : 2160p ?
Haha, yeah same here, watched Doug as well as Carwow and even the dumbest automotive YouTuber in the world, Hoovies Garage in the 2160P setting. ?

Indeed, same here, let’s see how long this lasts lol.

I have just noticed for the first time ever, 1440p & 4K options available on my iPad Pro!

Does anyone’s YouTube not automatically go to 4K? You have to select it every time which gets annoying. In fact sometimes it just sits on 480p.

I’ve had this issue for years over a good wifi connection, when the max res was 1080p. So it doesn’t surprise me that I need to manually select the higher resolutions...

4k looks pixel perfect on the iPad pro, can't figure why it's on the 750p panels of the smaller phones tbh,
Even 4k is above the resolution of iPad pro, especially without the full screen fill option.
I was expecting 1440p 60 HDR, but we ended up with 2160p 60 non HDR.
Go figure..

Not sure why it’s so inconsistent. My iPad Pro is now working across all browsers and YouTube app. On my 5k iMac it doesn’t work in Safari and YouTube app but works in Chrome and Edge.

Hdr on my 2018 pro 12.9 ? View attachment 974505
Now that is very weird lol, seems there is a little glitch going on.
4K on my Air 4th Gen, but isn’t showing hdr, although had an iOS update that said it was included
No iPad to-date/as of the day I am posting this should be showing HDR lol, their displays don’t support HDR as far as I know, but will gladly take correction.

Correct me if I am wrong but what this means is that the HDR content is simply allowed to be decoded but what is shown won’t be in HDR on a display that doesn’t support it?

For example an iPhone 8 will decode a HDR video because it’s now capable of this but it won’t be able to take advantage of displaying full HDR? Whereas an iPhone XS will show the video in its full HDR glory because its screen supports HDR?

Same goes for iPad.

At least that’s what I believe is going on, but maybe I am wrong?
