The lag on 5.01 was so bad I could type the whole search topic on the keyboard before it showed up in the search box. With 5.1 it is virtually straight away. I must admit the lag is what has caused me to upgrade to the new iPad. The day after ordering the new iPad the original iPad 1 has come to life again!!!!!

Oh well at least I have a new iPad coming

I didnt go so far as to order the new iPad for that reason, but like you, the typing lag was horrendous I didn't even think it was the difference between the old and 5.0 update, but with 5.1 it is much snappier.

Thought for a bit that it was just a lot of people dl porn near where I live LOL.

I've seen a huge improvement as well. So many people here were saying that the poor behavior we were seeing before was what we should have expected, and things would only continue to get worse. So glad to see that they've been proven wrong. This was such a big issue for me that I was considering no longer recommending Apple products to non-techy friends. Apple has restored my faith in them, and I will continue recommending them as I have for 12 years now.

I never experienced the awful slow down that many iPad 1 owners seemed to, but even so my original iPad is def' running smoother than before.

And not a single safari crash since the update.
