Dude, sorry but honestly we don't need to hear you justify why you don't want an iPad.

I HATE when people say the iPad is a giant iPod touch. The experience on the iPad is 1,000 x's better! Plus there are a ton of apps specifically made for the iPad with tons more to come.

I buy this, like I buy the guy who says: I have a "friend" with Erectile Dysfunction...

You own this troll(complete with reference to iSheep), because you posted it.

As trolls go, it has been repeated here endlessly for months. It contains nothing new or original.

It is just insults (iSheep? really?) by people who can't see the value in the product of people who do.

If you can't see the value why can't you just say: "it isn't for me", rather than everyone who buys one are blind sheep? It isn't possible they see something you don't??

I wasn't gonna even respond in this thread b/c I knew people were going to take what I posted very personally and at the end of the day I really don't care, like I said, I just copied and pasted my friend's email response, but you sir, your response takes the cake, it was so funny I had to respond with this

thanks to have brought this issue up(point no.1): LED under sunlight.

I read about it a million times and I want to be explain it better.

I met a guy at my restaurant this week that has a kindle and finally I saw how an e-Ink screen looks. I like it! I know the purposes of it and I think is great to have it on eReader devices.

Now I don't know the real differences between the iPhone and the iPad screen are, so I want to ask you guys: what happens when your iPad faces sunlight?

Because is a really(and unusual) sunny day in London today, and my iPhone likes the sun as I do and is not complaining about it.

Ok each to his own but I find the weight to be a non issue...it's a pound and a half. I'm also not upset with the pixel density at all, I don't put the screen up to my nose and stare at icons looking for pixels.

Typing in landscape beats my MSI Wind hands down.

Delicate? Not at all. During the day I have it in the Apple case and it's fine. The finger prints are annoying but I keep the cloth that came with my MBP with it.

Reading in bed is great, turn the brightness nearly all the way down and it's no problem.

I sat last night sketching with my Pogo Stylus and Sketchbook Pro and it's fantastic. Also, being able to quickly pull up Youtube and watch someone do a speed painting and the tap a button, go right back into sketchbook and draw right on the screen? Amazing.

As far as file transfers, I've set up Good Reader for now to access things on my iDisk. Hopefully they address some file system tasks today at 1PM.

It's not a perfect device, but once you use one, you instantly 'Get it'.

So you posted your troll knowing it was going to annoy people, but didn't want to hang around because you "really don't care".

This is classic hit and run trolling.

That you try to shift the troll off your self is also textbook trolling:

smg.media.mit.edu/papers/Donath/IdentityDeception/IdentityDeception.pdf

"Trolling is a game about identity deception, albeit one that is played without the consent of most of the players. The troll attempts to pass as a legitimate participant, sharing the group's common interests and concerns; the newsgroups members, if they are cognizant of trolls and other identity deceptions, attempt to both distinguish real from trolling postings, and upon judging a poster a troll, make the offending poster leave the group. Their success at the former depends on how well they — and the troll — understand identity cues; their success at the latter depends on whether the troll's enjoyment is sufficiently diminished or outweighed by the costs imposed by the group.""

take what I posted very personally and at the end of the day I really don't care, like I said, I just copied and pasted my friend's email response, ...I'm just the messenger! Was having an email discussion with my friend who buys everything Mac and he broke down why he wasn't getting one. I felt the response was sincere and too thought out to waste so I've pasted it below.

A chance to use my oft-quoted comment...

"...If you wear your McDonalds uniform into Buger King and yell 'The King Sucks' someones gonna yell back..."

Your initial post, which was not thought out and was a wasted effort, was nothing more than a vain attempt to 'throw rocks at the hornets nest'. It was not that you posted it..but that it was couched in the usual 'flamer' verbage. It 'may' have been just a cut and paste and you're not to blame...if you didn't read it. If you did...see my uniform quote above.

And historically, the messenger does die when he brings bad news to the king.

Why do people insist of following the mindset of bloggers instead of them forming their own opinion?

I never doubted the ipad. Knew its limitations but overall nobody's opinion matter but mine. So i held judgement until i got to play with the device and lo and behold the complaints of others are not in tune with my needs or wants.

Yes it is very limited thats a proven fact.

But there are ways to circumvent the limitations on the ipad.

I personally think the ipad serves it's purpose better then any netbook out there. I tried the netbook route and I hated the small trackpads and the lackluster performance it provided.

I am a system adminitsrator and when i told my co-workers that I will be dropping my macbook and using the ipad for everything they laughed.
I am remotely loggin in and managing the network using my ipad.

No problems what so ever and i do not miss my laptop. I can consume & create etc.

If he hasnt bought one how does he know the screen is crap in the sun? Did he steal one from the store and run outside.

"No Sir... I don't like it!"

Nice post, but I have to disagree completely with your friend on all counts. I think the iPad is extraordinary. It's not all things to all people, but it isn't trying to be. I love it. It will change everything, despite some of the naysayers. Not killing the messenger. Have a good one.

thanks to have brought this issue up(point no.1): LED under sunlight.

I like it! I know the purposes of it and I think is great to have it on eReader devices.

I have an iPad and a Kindle. If I am going to be in full sunshine..Kindle. Inside or even under a tree outside..iPad.

E-Ink is superb in very bright conditions....never stated anything different. Kindle has NO backlighting. Which means reading in bed can be problematic. My wife doesn't like the overhead light on when she's trying to sleep. The angle of the bedside lamp doesn't hit the screen in the right angle. I have to use the clip on 'kindle light'. Even before the iPad was announced I thought it was a cheezy fix. The ipad? You can dial it down to almost 0% screen brightness and read just fine in a dark room.

I like the kindle and expect the smaller one to be around in some form or other (at a reduced price). The kindle DX though is probably toast.

The kindle app is great...works as advertised.

Pixel density is actually really good, short of OLED, there's not much out there with a sub 10" screen with higher pixel density. I dont think i've seen a 10" netbook with any more than 1024x600 (admittedly, i've not kept up with recent netbooks, so prove me wrong if i am), so with 1024x768 you're ahead of the curve.

OP,

You make all this crazy specific to you nitpicky complaints, including it not having as camera, yet if it did have a camera, you would just replace that reason with how awkward and clumsy and unwieldy it is to take a picture with the iPad.

So they can't really win with you can they?

Remember, kids: you don't need your friends' permission to buy stuff.

I LOL'd at this.

In my head, I had visions of something so much more. Something free flowing, with customisation and individuality about it. With a folder option that fans out when you press it (like the downloads on the doc on my iMac). with easy to drag and drop widgets on the home screen. Just something 'magical'.

I mean lets face it, there's not really a lot more to this than an iPod Touch or what ever it's called. You can now read a book on a bigger screen... There should have been so much more to this.

This is the closest I could find to how I would have liked it to look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJALVQo-HyM&fmt=18 But of course without all the scroll bars and that sort of stuff, but just free flowing, and asthetically pleasing.

LOL it looks like we got this with iPhone OS 4
