Actually, I am on series 3 and except some apps not being supported by my watchOS anymore, there is actually not much justifying an upgrade at this moment. I am happy with it.
How's your battery life? Mine was fine until I installed watchOS 8.8.1. Struggle to get through the day now. Annoying as it's got me looking at a replacement when I was hoping the AW3 would keep me going for a long while yet.

Currently, it's at 2 days. However, I turn it off at night.

Thanks. I have mine on a charging stand as an alarm clock. Immediately after the install of 8.8.1 it went from being comfortably able to last a day and still have 50% remaining to dying mid afternoon. Have remedied that slightly by switching off various features but it still sometimes requires a booster charge to get through the day. Particularly if I've travelled to the office for some reason.

My AW 7 is serving me just fine. As is my 14Pro. None of them need updating before next year at the earliest. If not longer.

In fact this is the least apple purchases I’ve made in years. Just nothing compelling enough to warrant an upgrade for me. I WFH so I’m not out running around taking fancy photos anyway or using my watch all that much.

Although TBH my whole passion for wearables is on the wane anyway. I find myself wearing my AW less and less.

Agreed. I do still love my watch but mostly just because I’ve gotten used to having quick access to time, temperature, and date. As conflicted as I am over the redesign, moving all the other glanceables to the stack has been an improvement.

But yes, Apple seems to be kind of stuck lately. They are dripping out hardware upgrades slowly (the ones I care about anyway) and the software updates are just adding fluff and bugs.

I’m going to have to start looking back to Linux if the trend of “design” on the Mac continues. Starting to get on the “Tim Cook has had his run” train and maybe somebody else should take a shot.

I got the battery replaced on my Series 5 recently, as it required a charge twice a day.
Battery charge duration is the update I keep hoping for. Yes, I know the Ultra battery lasts a couple days. That's still not long enough.
While I was waiting for my Series 5 to come from Apple (they actually replaced the watch with a new Series 5), I wore one of my old fashioned solar powered watches. The batteries on those doesn't run down if the watch is worn and sees some light during the day.
Obviously, the Apple Watch has far more functionality, and I prefer wearing it, but boy I'd like the battery charge to last longer. My Apple Watch has let me down when traveling, and in other cases where I can't charge it. Low power mode helps, as does turning off the always on display.
Sigh

While the new features might be tempting, I’m still in love with my white ceramic Apple Watch Edition series 5. Just had the battery replaced and it still meets my needs. I’d be all over a new white ceramic Apple Watch though! Wish they’d bring that encasement back. A girl can hope….😊

I buy watches every two years or so. Started with Series, then series 3. then 5, then7 and now my Ultra 2. I'll see what happens in a few years. I still have the series 5 and 7 watches, nothing wrong with them at all.

I use low power mode at the 3 day interval. My habit is to reset the mode MWF. Series 4 here.

I won't upgrade to a new Apple watch from my series 2 until a version capable of functioning for more than a day reliably. I don't care for a few hours longer but *days* longer on a single battery charge. Give me 5-7 days and I will play and pay. What purpose does it serve to have all the health related, particularly those related to sleep, functionalities when you can't use them consistently without worrying about charge.

Bring Apple Watch with these feaatures:

- True standalome. No dependency of any other device, including setup. Or just macOS dependency. No iPhone required.

- Camera to read QR-codes and open their URL with Safari. Again, no iPhone involved.

Expecting to see a new design along with some new features for the 10th anniversary

Honestly can't imagine that they would change the way the watch band connects.
Me either. A magnetic attachment ie Macbook is not going to be secure enough for a watch, so I think this must not be accurate. However, given the patent applications Apple has filed for various biometric sensors on a watch band, something capable of transmitting an electrical signal from watch to band might be necessary.

The rumor I find most unlikely is the watchband attachment change.

Considering even the completely different Ultra uses the same attachment system.

And all the complains Apple will receive of people owning large collections of watch bands.

If Apple wants to sell more watches, they need to lower their prices.
People don’t have the same disposable incomes as they did 3 years ago.
And Apple’s earnings reflect that. The thing that kept me from buying a watch this Black Friday was the mediocre discounts. I expected more aggressive pricing.

I agree, not much compelling info here. My series four still does what it's supposed to do and even with a drop in battery life and an ugly scratch on the face I won't upgrade until the rumored glucose monitor sees the light of day.
