I bought min in store at Best Buy on the 21st. How do I go about getting the 50$ back?

Go to customer service at Best Buy. They'll price match as long as you are within return period and sale is still active.

Thanks. I assume I have to go to the store and do this and not online/over the phone? Will I need to bring the iPad and box with me?

Not sure about doing it over the phone. I always go into the store to price match(after purchase). I've only needed the receipt, not the actual item.

I think you can do it over the phone.

I think I've done it once, just have your receipt ready.

Where are all the cellular iPad deals? Are they really that much more popular that retailers are not discounting?

You would think that the wifi models would be more popular since they are cheaper and don't require a subscription...

Haven't see any aside from the Apple back to school sales. I picked up a 12.9 yesterday and the person at the Apple store asked if I had any kids in school (I do) and gave me the educational discount and free headphones.

Got an open box 64G 12.9 $605 at Best Buy. Great shape, only missing the power adapter. The open-box prices seem to be adjusted for the current $50-off sale.

I'm really surprised that Target hasn't matched either Best Buy or Staples with the $50 off. If they offer $649 with a $100 gift card, that would be a good deal.

Yea, I think the price point for the IPP is just too high for a tablet. Mid range 10.5" LTE model is almost a grand after tax.

I just grabbed a 12.9 Pro (2017) open box with an additional $50 off yesterday for mom.

Today Best Buy is doing a one day sale with $250 off last years models, so I just ordered a 12.9 Pro 128g for pick up later today. I'll have mom try them out side by side and see if she notices any differences, probably not as she's only really going to be using it for streaming (netflix, hulu, youtube, etc). I think the newer 2017 model will end up being overkill for her, so my guess is that we'll end up keeping the 12.9 Pro (2015) for $649.

Opinions?

If that ends up the case, the hardest part of the equation will be returning the new model (and not keeping it for myself). Doh

I can definitely notice a difference between the 2017 12.9 and the original 2015 12.9. The biggest difference is the touch interface which feels a lot smoother and more responsive with fewer dropped frames on the animations. My dad on the other hand is still on an iPhone 6 and sees no real reason to upgrade at this point. So it's very much a matter of personal preference with personal electronics. I do think the 2017 model will hold up better to future iOS updates. If it were me I'd hold out for a really good sale or open box deal and get the 2017.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to keep an eye out for that and see if she notices/cares. I think either model is going to feel ridiculously fast to her, as I'm upgrading her from an old iPad 2 she's been using. The 12.9 Pros are probably 100,000 times better than what she's used to!

Only reason I bit on the 12.9 Pro (2017) yesterday was because I was able to get it for $125 off (between open box & additional $50 off sale). Then I'll also get another 5% kickback for using their charge card, so that's like another $50 savings. Figured at that price I didn't mind looking at the new models.
