Thanks. Please also post the results of the following commands (I would like to see how the results differ from my Mac mini):
Code:
kextstat | grep Intel | egrep "Graphics|Framebuffer"
ioreg -lw0 | grep "AAPL,ig-platform-id"
ioreg -lw0 | grep '<"Mac'
system_profiler SPHardwareDataType SPDisplaysDataType | sed '/.*Serial.*/d;/.*UUID.*/d'
system_profiler SPSoftwareDataType | grep System

I was not able to get my 2018 mac mini working at 5120x1440 @60hz with a high end 15ft cable paired with a USB-C to DP adapter. I was using SwitchResX but it was not offering a 5120x1440 @60hz option.

I switched to a shorter 10ft cable with no adapter as a test and it worked.

Cable that worked:

Which 15 foot cable and USB-C to DP adapter did not work?
Did you check AGDCDiagnose output to see if it was connecting properly at HBR2 link rate?

Thank you so much for replying. I tried two different fancy “8K” cables that are super thick and inflexible.
Could you share how to do what you mentioned above? Thanks!!

/System/Library/Extensions/AppleGraphicsControl.kext/Contents/MacOS/AGDCDiagnose -a > AGDCDiagnose_a.txt 2>&1
Then look for the status for the port that is connected to your display. It should say HBR2 x4.

Thanks! If it does/ doesn’t say that what do I do?

I used this one, which was recommended on other forums. Any suggestions on finding a 15 ft cable which is USB-C to DP and works properly would be much appreciated!

I have that adapter. I think it works fine (it runs warm even when nothing is plugged into it). Haven't tried 15 feet cable with it though.

Maybe check if there are any 15 ft (≈5m) cables that are VESA certified. I think the longest USB-C to DisplayPort cable is 1.5m (5 feet) but those are for DisplayPort 1.4 (HBR3, 8K). You only need DisplayPort 1.2 (HBR2).
