As hellhammer says in iOs you are shown the available space not the full space of the drive as you get in OSX, what is sad is that you can't accept when you are being silly and talking nonsense.

Do you think iOS and its apps take up 18GB of space? Of course they don't.

You seem rather worked up over this issue. As noted, its working as OS X works, so there's no diconnect between the two operating systems.
We're just talking here, no need to try to antagonize me. It's an issue because Apple and storage companies are inflating the numbers of their products. If you disagree with me, I'd love to hear your discussion rather than your attempts to start an argument.

I wasn't trying to antogize you, but rather point out, you seem rather emotionally involved on the topic. Where as for me, I've probably not thought about this issue since apple rolled out the change. To me, its not a big deal, but to you, it seems very important.

@Hellhammer pointed out that there is a difference, so be it. At the end of the day, does that really impact my usage of OS X or iOS? Not one iota. Will I lose sleep over this topic, haven't yet. Should apple fix this, probably, but in the scheme of things, I think its probably one of the least important issues they're facing in regards to bugs/updates.

Is there an actual reason you keep bringing it up? Your observation is completely irrelevant to the conversation.

Your definition of "emotionally involved" is limited to me purchasing products from companies that are being deceptive about those products. Call it whatever you want, and I'm not so sure why it's necessary for you to repeatedly point it out. Am I more emotionally involved than you are on the Fusion Drive vs SSD threads? You seem to post a lot about that. We're just discussing things here, and sometimes people get upset by things companies do. Do I really need to explain this to you?

I apologise for incorrect information. It turns out that iOS uses base 2, whereas OS X uses base 10.

In the end it really doesn't matter. You get the same number of bytes either way.

Thanks for the link. I have plenty of space for everything I need, but it would be nice if companies would use the actual numbers in advertising. I'm fine with a 466GB SSD. Being deceptive to call it 500GB is not cool. Doesn't change the amount of storage I actually have, but it's still not right.

I'd much rather go into a store and ask for a 4TB drive than saying "Hey I need to grab a couple 3.726 TB drives?"

I guess it doesn't interest me enough to wonder why a company names anything what they do. I just look at a product, look at the price, ask myself is what they are offering worth the price for me? Sure ok I'll take one or Nope, not today.
