Or...

Just maybe they could put 6 icons along the home screen too. I mean, the screen is only twice as wide as the iPhone while the icons are the same size.

^ If you think about it, I'm sure there is reasoning for this decision... You think they were like "heh, let's piss em off and make it only 4 across". I'm sure it's either 1) Coming 2) Looked bad (for whatever reason ie, too cramped) 3) Any other reason apple made this decision.

^ I get what your saying but it just doesn't "work" that way. With a nice big screen you don't want things (well I don't) shoved right up next to each filling up every little gap of that huge screen where as on the phone, its smaller and not as big a display. Hope that makes sense.

I have my iPhone jailbroken and have 5 icons across on it and it looks fine. I'm assuming Apple's reasoning is that since you have a real wallpaper and not just a black background that it looks too cluttered. I would prefer to have 5-6 across on the iPad over 4, that's for sure.

After reading my posts I think the word I was looking for (pretty much what you described) is busy... take a look at my first screenshot with 6 docked, now imagine 6,6,6,6,6 all the way up... it seems like it would be WAYYY too busy (cluttered?) in my opinion. It would look like one of those gigantic iphone mock-ups.

I'd prefer it if all rows could have 6 icons, not just the dock. Would look a bit out of uniform in my opinion.....or maybe I'm too fussy
