The one thing that makes the X easier to hold is also my biggest source of annoyance- it’s narrower. I’ve had a 7 Plus for the past year and LOVE how much fits on that screen. It’s really an iPad Nano. LOL

That said, I also am enjoying the overall feature set of the X. But I may end up switching back and getting an 8 Plus, so I won’t have any need for an iPad. The X is just ever so slightly less functional because of it.

Droidbecker is right. the corners and notch do impact on usable screen space.
Actually he is wrong. The notch doesn’t impact usable screen space. Instead of having the status bar below the cameras and dedicated to the whole top of the screen like previous iPhones making that space entirely unusable. The X allows that status bar to be removed from the top part of the screen and placed with the cameras. Giving you a tiny bit more screen.

The Plus models of the X when they arrive will be the same deal. You actually get more usable screen with the X design. The current version is a replacement of the non Plus model. So if you like the size and form factor of the Plus models get the 8+. If you like the smaller form factor get the X.

If you are really in love with bezels and buying a phone that is the equivalent of the iPad 3 of iPhones in terms of obsolescence, get an 8. It’s a nice consolation prize and obviously a huge upgrade to the 6.

But if you want at least a years’ worth of owning the best Apple has to offer and want to be on the next-gen platform, get an X. No hardware bezels, screen is fantastic and you’ll not be throwing your money into something that’s already fading and about to be abandoned. The 8 series is the lowest selling iPhone ever for a good reason....most buyers are smarter than that.

The X is very good. I've had mine from the 3rd and slowly begin to see why they green lighted it. (coming from a 6+)

But it's expensive. If you can afford it, get the X for sure. But it's expensive.

I was in the exact same boat as you but I just went ahead and ordered the 8+ today. My 6 has been feeling slow and ****** for about a year now.

I’ve been wanting to upgrade for a while but was also waiting for the 10 year anniversary update... hmm meh to be honest. Not a fan of the notch, removal of Touch ID or the price. I also wanted a bigger screen.

I’ve also saw both in person now and just decided to go with the 8+. I feel like both would’ve been a ‘big’ upgrade but I’m nowhere near as excited as I was when I got my 3G, 4, 5 or even 6 (always thought it was pretty ugly tbh but loved the size at the time).
I’m going to be very careful with my 8+ and maybe sell it next year if the update to the X entices me.

You can Upgrade your iPhone 6 to iPhone 8 if you only CARE for Performance
The Sad thing about iPhone 6/6S/7 Users that upgrade to iPhone 8 doesn't feel a huge upgrade because the iPhone 8 design looks iPhone 6 especially in the front. If you've bought an iPhone 8+ to SHOW OFF inside the MALL People would assume or thought that your still using an iPhone 6 even you just upgraded to iPhone 8. Seems like your only upgrading to iPhone 6 Plus instead of 8+ because of bigger screen.

In reality, and nowadays, MOST PEOPLE care about the LATEST DESIGN, LATEST Features. iPhone 8 DOES NOT HAVE FACE ID, Animojis, and etc. While iPhone X has latest design which is enough to show off to your friends, or other people at malls that you look cool right??

70% of people like me CARE about Latest Design, Latest Feature like (FACE ID which is trending)
30% of people in America only care about the Speed and pretends not to be HURT when they aren't using the latest phone anymore (just like iPhone 8 looks like iPhone 6) Yes they maybe saying that iPhone 8 is a huge upgrade but DEEP INSIDE of their Hearts, they have wished they have the latest phone like X

Having come from a 6S+, I’m glad I jumped directly to the X. Though the form factor is smaller and lighter, the X screen is indeed a tad larger than the 6+, 7+, and 8+. For me, that is a win-win because the only thing I want larger is the screen itself. It slips more comfortably into pockets in my purse.

Getting in on the cutting edge with the X will have its own annoyances. Right now — for me — it is Bluetooth phone call problems. I suspect that will be soon resolved with a software update.
