60 GB Enough?

Enough for what? It's like asking if a bag is big enough...
These days, 60gb can fill up very fast. If that's what you're going for, then you may need to move archived files over to DVDs or external drives quite often.

it's "okay". I recently bought the same MacBook, and I really enjoy my purchase, but I think I want to up my RAM to 2GB. I still have like 18GB free, but as I download lots of video files, it'sfilling up rather quickly.
Yeah, it really depends on what you want to store on your hard drive. If you want to store your music collection or some video, you might find 60Gb to be limiting. Even a large collection of photos can take up quite a bit of space.
I've found the 80Gb hard drive in my Powerbook to be kind of limiting... but luckily for me
it had a complete failure yesterday. So, I just ordered a 160Gb drive to replace it.

Is it possible to delete all un-wanted languages etc. I used to use Monolingual on my power-pc, but have heard it's not that stable on an intel pc. Is there another app I can use? If I ever wanted to re-install these apps, for example, if I was selling the macbook, how easy would it to put these languages back on?
i have a 60, and i find its not big enough. To save space, i recommend that you:
- re-install OS X, removing any languages, printer drivers, and apps which you wont need, like iDVD (if you only have a combo drive).
- put any large, but rarely used files, such as iMovie files, onto an external drive, like your iPod.
- delete movies from your computer if you have them on your iPod. (if you need to burn them to a CD, use a program such as iPodRip to get them off your iPod and onto your main drive)
- Clean out your home folders reguarly, deleting any useless items.
If you are still 10GB or less from full,
- Buy an external HDD
- just swap the one in your computer for a bigger one

I have an 80gb internal hard drive, but 160 external drive(to back up stuff, or when i clean out my main mac, i can delete things and not really worry if i delete them because i have them saved
But i do have more free room on my iPod then my Mac Mini... but i don't do much stuff that make up Gbs(only really music)

My iMac has a 250 GB HDD, on it I have, several thousand photos, a modest music library, many large apps, and all of my documents. I have barely passed 70 GB.
I have a 60GB hard drive in my iBook G4 and I find it took me 7 months for me to fill it up. But all I was doing before the 6 1/2 month mark was web browsing and word processing. After the 6 1/2 month mark I got into downloading vidcasts and podcasts along with encoding video. I just backed up and reformatted and reinstalled 2 days ago to get rid of all the junk because I had under 8GB of space left. I now have 33GB after reinstalling everything, I'd REALLY like to upgrade my hard drive, but I'm saving so I can get a macbook pro in a couple months so I won't bother .

another trick i use that saves a ton of room on my MB (and my PB before it) is that i store my music files on my powermac, and then just share them out through itunes - my library is 30gb+ so this saves me a bunch of space!
Well, it really depends.
If you need the money, I would go with the 60. That is adequate...
If you have some extra dough lying around, though, I would try and max it out to at least 80, if not even more. I have a 100gb and I am almost done filling it up, so it's best to be safe now, then sorry later.

If you have more than two of the following:
movies
music (Apple lossless especially)
photos
dvd backups
thesis paper
iLife/iWork/other large apps
then no.
Also, if you don't have time, then no as well. Takes forever to burn stuff to DVD or CD. I stopped in favor of using hard drives myself. Costs a little more but the time saved is practically priceless.

If the laptop will not be doing everything on the go, just get the 60and put most stuff on an external on your desk. Only keep what you need with you on the MB, that way it shouldn't fill up.
60GB is not enough for me. But then I do rip every CD and DVD I can get my hands on, and take quite a few photos. At the moment I have 60GB and my music alone has taken up almost all of it (plus I like to have at least an extra 10GB free for OSX to run smoothly). I also want to install Windows via Bootcamp on it sooner or later.
My plan is to keep all my apps, music, documents and photos on my internal hard drive (which I will upgrade when Seagate bring out a 5400rpm 160GB drive), buy a huge external drive for all my DVD rips, and then another external drive later on as backup.

I think you guys are underestimating the size of it. 60g is still large enough to hold thousands of songs, lots of apps, and videos, with space left over.
I think 60g is more than enough for the average user, that wants to surf the web, write papers, listen to music, and watch movies.
Side note, remember 60gb hdrive becomes around 54gb after os x is installed.

And finally, if you were to up your hard drive space, i would advise an external harddrive. The most you can upgrade the hdrive right now in your laptop is double, 120gb. (Going by apple.com's store). It would be cheaper to get an external one.
At my work we just got an 8tb system. Wait till they can fit a tbyte into your laptop, than it would be worth it...
