Intel aren't going to sit on this for too long, you'll see them crank out something for Mac Pro rev b. But do keep in mind that Threadripper can't pass 128GB or RAM(maybe a little more with this current one)
[automerge]1578495473[/automerge]I do not feel like I am or have ever been ripped off by Apple....... 😜
You get what you pay for.
I will always go for quality over price, when it comes to tech.
Never count on intel being out. Neither systems have been out long enough to form long term performance metrics. Synthetic benchmarks are great for marketing fluff and bragging rights; not much else.
So far I am very happy with the performance of the Mac Pro 16-core; and I basically have a minimal system at the moment. Planning for more RAM very soon, or at the very least another 16GB so I get 6 ch. performance.
Now if I could only figure out how to hack the latest nVidia Web drivers to work with Catalina and the 1080ti from my Hack....
256GB per channel 1TB total for 3900 series Threadripper.Threadrippers are 256GB. Epyc goes up to 2TB per socket.
They can also be informative to those who may not be aware of alternatives which could lead to pressure being applied to Apple to consider alternatives. It's my opinion such pressure resulted in the Mac Pro. Without it I feel the iMac Pro would be the top Macintosh offering.Just curious what the purpose of these sorts of threads is. Do I wish I could get a super-fast AMD processor in a Mac that costs a fraction of an Intel processor? You bet. Is that something Apple is going to offer any time soon? Not likely.
It seems like these posts (and similar comments on other threads) are just supposed to make me feel bad or stupid that I'm getting ripped off by Apple for preferring to buy a workstation that runs the Mac OS.
