It would make more sense for all the 12.9" devices to have 6GB and all the 11" to have 4GB if the memory is shared between the CPU and the GPU due to the increased resolution. I don't know if it is shared, but just a view.
I expect RAM is shared across CPU, GPU and storage controller.

Everyone is assuming that the two extra gigs of ram will have a noticeable system wide benefit, but that isn’t proven yet. I would wait before switching orders to 1tb to allow folks to fully compare performance.
I think it would have a noticeable benefit when running photo manipulation apps where dozens of layers on a high dpi file is necessary. In the Photoshop demo (I just checked) it was a 3GB file, 135 individual images, 157 layers and 12000x12000px (I'm wondering if she meant 1200x1200 but at 3GB maybe not). Six gigabytes of RAM would make all the difference in that instance. Now, granted, you and I aren't probably editing those kinds of files but I think these new Pros are being aimed right at people that do.

I guess what really needs to be investigated in this case is the amount of RAM left after system processes?

Who knows if it is the same across the board?

It can't be using much. Some battery app I downloaded the other day said I had over 3 gigs of RAM available when I was running it. I could be wrong but I don't know how to reliably find that info.

What the hell can someone use 1TB of storage on an iPad?
Average person probably not but I can easily see that amount used by small businesses or corporations who require iPads for their business. Maybe UPS,Federal Express,DHL,Restaurants,Businesses with point of sale, etc..

Anything mass deployed such as point of sale would probably use the cheapest iPads available (maybe with LTE upgrade).

One thing that doesn’t add up is I’ve seen no Geekbench measurements with the identified of a 64, 256, or 512gb iPad.
My OCD is killing me on this as I wanted an iPad I wouldn’t need to upgrade in 2+ years (probably the next time they announce new ones.)
I can’t say I don’t need 6GB, but I own a small business that will rely on this iPad, so 6GB might be needed.
I just don’t understand Appld right now, they are pulling some shady crap, and I don’t remember them doing such crap before.

I have had Ipads since the first generation and first retina was a big disappointment on hardwarare side.

While my current Air 2 is still working well the first retina model was seriously underpowered and it was retired quickly to paperweight.

Even though 11” pro certainly packs enough punch for todays use what holds me back is the fear that lack of ram might limit its lifespan. Especially since it looks like from the keynote that the ios will be gaining more advanced features for multitasking.

Therefore I am bit torn between on either grabbing the new 11” now or just waiting for the black friday offers on the 10.5 which you can most likely grab for almost half a price comprared to the new pro.

Surely iOS uses memory swapping as well? Because it’s still very fast flash memory...

I think finding the info reliably is the problem here; as in which app is more trustworthy than the other?
