$7500, what would you you buy?

Picture this; your house gets broken into and ALL of your camera gear gets stolen and you have no coverage, no insurance no nothing. the next day you win $7500. so you have $7500 to buy a whole new setup. what would you get?
what type of camera, which lens, what bag etc. anything you want to have a "complete" setup under $7500.

Well it depends on a couple things.
1. Is this for amateur or professional use?
2. Are you a Canon person or a Nikon person?
3. Does it all have to be spent on camera gear?
4. Can money left over be used for Apple gear?

But for me, I'd say:
-Canon 5D
-Canon 30D/40D for back-up
-everyday EF-S lens, like 28-135
-L long range zoom lens
-L wide-angle lens, 17-40
-3x2GB CF cards
-nice Crumpler bag
-UV and Polarizing filters for each lens
-Firewire CF reader

Damn, im a bargain hunter, so with $7500 I could buy my dream set up with money to spare, also i am still an amateur.

extended warranty from futureshop, since it offers free yearly cleanings, and if i had $7500, why not right lol?
probably a couple in between lenses, and a wide lens.

ohhh, also, i have been dreaming about good flashes and lighting equiptment for a while now, so Id spend a good chunk on that as well.

Hrm. Thankfully in real life my gear is insured... but I guess I'd replace my M8 & 35mm Summilux.... have to do some eBay hunting to get it under $7500, though.

At that price, I wouldn't by anything that didn't have a full frame sensor.

Personally, I'd wait for the Leice M9 and make do with something in the interim but that's just because a rangefinder suits me much better. I'd get a D3 or a 1D if I wanted a DSLR.

To each their own... Currently there is nothing with a 35mm sensor that has the form factor and functionality of an M8... last I checked the D3 was a bit bigger and heavier.

I'll go with the camera that's available now, not one that exists in a schematic or prototype lab somewhere in Germany.

I sure wouldn't spend it all at once. Maybe start with a 5D and a grip, but then my Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 wouldn't work.

I'd get another S5, another film camera, probably an F3. A small digital, the oly 420 and 25mm pancake for carrying.

A bunch of nikon primes, because they're cool, because I like the way they look and feel. A couple of tokina zooms, some film. I haven't thought about how much $7500 actually is, prices are different over here.

Assuming $7500 is about £4k ish:

S5 Pro £500
Nikon Primes £500 (ebay money!) probably a 180mm f/2.8, 50mm 1.8, 28mm AIS f/2.8, a short tele of some kind ≈ 100mm.
Tokina AT-X 16-50mm f2.8 PRO DX £500
Tokina AT-X 11-16mm f2.8 PRO DX £500
F3 ≈ £130.
Olympus and 25mm - £450

That's around £2600. By 'eck this is hard to spend.

Hell, throw in a D300 and an SB-800

I already have a 40D, and a kenko 1.4x extender. I don't see the need for an expensive camera body that becomes obsolete, depending on how you look at it, within a couple of years. The Nikon D3 will certainly be topped by a Canon's version any time now, just like the D3 topped some of the Canon top of the line cameras this year.
