$7500, what would you you buy?

Gosh thats easy-----

D3 and 70-200VR...I have a hook up to get a D3 at 4000 and the 70-200 for 1400...then pick up a 24-70 for 1500...Who needs a flash with an ISO over 6400 that looks like the ISO of 800 on any Canon or other Nikon product on the market to date...I take 12 frames per second thank you very much....But if I had to get a flash then the SB800 would work

I'd probably get a Canon 1DMarkII or 5D, an 85mm f/1.2, a 50mm f/1.2, a 24-70L, and a lot of studio lighting equipment for starters.

Oh, and probably some medium format gear as well.

A nice full-frame body, such as the Canon 5D "Mk2"

An Ikelite Underwater housing

Ikelite housing port for above
= $400

Two Ikelite DS-125 strobes, with strobe arms (hopefully)
= $2000

Dang...there's only $500 left with which to buy a nice wide angle lens.

I'd spend most of it on the Nikkor 200mm F/2 prime lens. ($5,000)..

Well I'd have 2,500 left over.. So I'd pick up a nice D300, a 50mm 1.4, and one of those new superwide 11-16mm Tokina DX lenses ($640). Then I'd be set.

What are you going to be shooting??? Studio? Landscapes? PJ? It's very difficult to make suggestions otherwise.

That said....generally I would suggest a Nikon D300, 14-24, 24-70, 70-200. SB800. Some B+W filters. The Bogen tripod that fits your needs.

I agree...the D3 is absolutely stunning! BUT...the 70-200VR doesn't work well on full frame. Shocking...I know. 70-200VR works extremely well on the D300.

I already have a 40D, and a kenko 1.4x extender. I don't see the need for an expensive camera body that becomes obsolete, depending on how you look at it, within a couple of years. The Nikon D3 will certainly be topped by a Canon's version any time now, just like the D3 topped some of the Canon top of the line cameras this year.

That's nice... but how are you going to take pictures? (remember all your gear has been "stolen")

Nikon AND Canon lenses have FX issues. Have the D3 and the 70-200VR and the results have been great. Dpreview gave this lens a "recommended" for FX shooting and a "highly recommended" for DX.
