7970 vs 7950 vs 680 vs 670 in Boot Camp?

[/COLOR]My ultimate concern is that if 7970 and 680 both have 1) no issue frying Mac Pro, 2) no issue with looking at HDD choice screens if I were to press OPTION button in the boot screen (as far as I know, I just won't see the Apple screen?), lastly 3) no issue running on Mac OSX also (Boot Camp won't be a problem cuz it was PC GPU in the first place as far as I know).

I have the MSI Afterburner 7970 in my 2010 Mac Pro. Works like a champ. Doesn't overheat anything. I just use the power from the board. I highly recommend it.

I have also heard from legit sources the PCI bandwidth limitation was only theoretical at this point. Has anyone tried the 7950 on their 1,1 on bootcamp? I am guessing it would be a huge performance boost over my 4870 even with the PCI limitation, especially since there is no EFI issue on bootcamp.

U+You have no power issues at all with 7970 - I had kind of discounted that card as I thought it needed more power than the Mac had to give

I was literally about to step out to pick up the card before reading the rest of this thread. The OP first seems to say the card works on the 1,1 but later clarifies that its EFI locked 64 locked down so no card for the 1,1.

Cmon Apple. If you are not going to sell Pros anymore, just make and sell new parts and upgrades. Frustrating as hell to play Bioshock Infinite on the old 4870. Has anyone confirmed a 1,1 running chamelian can run this GPU?

You have this backward.

The card has an EBC firmware, boot screens on ANY mac Pro.

The issue is crippled/incomplete drivers with no 32bit kernel support. They are either incompetent boobs, or someone decided that you don't need 7xxx cards on your Mac Pro and put a burr under your saddle.

It will work under Chameleon
