Sorry if this has already been posted/discussed (too lazy to search). But the price drop got me wondering what would happen to the 8GB refurb price. Lo and behold there it is: $349. I might actually buy one now!!

You know, if 4GB isn't too small, you can get them refurb for $299.

Actually when I checked on the 8GB refurb, the 4GB refurb was not there. Maybe they're all gone (until the new ones start being returned :))

mine came in a nice white apple certified box. So it's not cardboard and it's not ugly either.

Does a refurb 8 GB come in an uglier box?

If a plain white box is ugly, then yes

i ordered one a few days ago. Fifty dollars saved!

Ill post here again once i get it, hopeing that the quality is no different.

Not always had a nightmare with one....

And I had a nightmare with a new G5 as well. I guess what I'm trying to say is that there is no more chance of getting a broken product as a refurb than as a new version.

I donno...$50 is not a lot of difference for me...
Put it this way... if you saw an empty iPhone box at the Apple store, would you pay $50 for it?

You should always, always buy refurbished if money is of any value to you. Same warranty, products always in perfect condition. Try it next time... definitely worth it.

Although I generally agree with your statement, some of us have had hit or miss results with Apple refurbs. I purchased a refurbished AirPort Express that was scratched to bits, had a broken power connector and shipped in a brown box with no protective packaging directly from the Apple Store.

I wouldn't just completely expect the item to be in like-new condition.

mine was brand new...well it looked brand new. and the smell was there too.
