So I've basically just finished adding tweaks and mods to my iPhone 3GS and it is SUCH a bittersweet moment.

I feel like I've gone from using my phone for amazingly fun things to now just having it sit and just wait for me to do something with it :/

I've completely made a custom theme for my phone, Stock looking iOS themed all black (pics below), and I also have installed an extensive list of mods and tweaks to basically use gestures for all the movements within the UI.

Tap the status bar for Home button, Swipe down status bar to lock screen, swipe right-side status bar to display battery amount, Double-tap camera icon to take picture.

AndroidLock XT
Auxo
Bolt
CallBar - Black Bar
ColorKeyboard - Black Keyboard
Chip - Black Notifications
DietBar
DietBulletin
f.lux
Guizmo DNS - Google.dk - 8.8.8.8
Infinidock
LockScreen Settings
LowPowerBanner
Monocle
Music Controls Pro
Nitrous
PasswordPilot
PowerUp
Privacy
PwnTunes
QuickShoot - Double Click Camera icon to take picture
SBRotator 6
Speed Intensifier - (-2)
Springtomize - small Icons, 5x5 icons, Icon Spacing, large Switcher Icons for Auxo
StatusBarCustomClock(4)
SafariSwipez
SwipeSafari
SwipeNav - Gestures for UI
TetherMe
Volume Step
WinterBoard
Zephyr
Winterboard

I know this has no point in sharing it but my Girlfriend REALLY doesnt care at all and i think you guys are the only ones who may have some suggestions for me haha

more pics!

some more pictures for yall to check out! And im averaging about 150mb of free ram, with a max of 200MB - yes i use Dynamic Paging, and VM Daemon, but i have done the research and the SSHD on iPhones will last over 1,000,000 Read/Writes, and also ONLY those SECTORS will die, if they ever die!

Flame or Comment away, Im bored out here in the farm in Denmark.

Looks nice. Personally, I'm not a big fan of icons all over my screen covering up my wallpaper (I like it clean, like your lockscreen and mine). I've got the 5 column springboard tweak (and 5 column dock tweak) so I have no more than 5 icons per screen (even if some are folders). My dock only has one icon and it's a folder with all the stuff I want to access on any screen. I used the 5 column dock tweak so that folder would be centered. But that's just me. Nice theme you have going.

I'm almost in the same boat as you. But I'm not there quite yet. However, I have been there with an old Touch Pro I have. Took about a year and a half of constant Googling for the stuff I wanted but I took it from stock to HTC Sense 2.1 w/weather. Once I got there though it was a relief to not be constantly twiddling with things.

What will happen now after the bittersweet wears off is this. Surprise, contentment and pure enjoyment. You'll be surprised at how well you like your phone and what you have done to it. It will make you love your phone more, you'll be absolutely happy with how it is functioning (because you intended it that way) and you'll get a whole lot of enjoyment out of it because you're using it the way you want to use it.

Been there. It get's better, so don't sweat it too much. :)

I think im going to try this idea out with the less icons, I may use gridlock to help achieve this, I like having more space but i really like having the spacing of 5x5 with the icons for a total of 6 rows! yay something to try ahhaha!:D

Here's one of my screens. You can see why I don't like icons all over. I have a little over 12 screens right now (there's a tweak that removes the limit) and I sort them by type. In this particular screen grab it's time and weather.

Note, I'm using Shrink so my icons are 90% of size. I prefer the smaller size for spacing purposes.

If you mean the colored lines in my screen shots, that's the Nexus addon for LivePapers. It's animated.

No, no. :)

they increase the RAM by dedicating SSHD space to direct RAM usage. It doesn't necessarily increase the speed but it does increase the total amount of applications that could be open, and also saves the applications to the "Dynamic Pages" when they have been closed, and even exited from the App Switcher, which in turn means they will open back up more quickly than if i didn't have the Dynamic Paging at all in the first place. its very nice, but after a reboot my phone goes back to being VERY slow to open many Apps, especially Settings, Camera and Phone. I also have the CPU clocked to the speed that it is when its being charged. That generally means lower battery life unless its on sleep mode.

in Layman's terms it means i have 768 MB "RAM" instead of my stock 256 MB. and my CPU is at 833 MHz instead of the 686 MHz. or whatever it is..

You clocked the CPU of your iPhone? HAHA, wtf? I didn't know this was possible. What are you using?
Also, about the dynamic paging seems really interesting. Tho, why is it slow after a reboot ?

its called Speed Intensifier Addon, and is a Winterboard "theme." the 3GS is Declocked when it is not plugged into the charging unit to save battery. and it is "Slow" because the Pages that were written to the Dynamic Paging/VM"RAM" have been wiped clean and must be written again. Its not really "slow," its back to normal speed, which by comparison is slow ahaha. when the phone has been running for a few days, i have most of the apps i use frequently written to the SSHD acting as RAM so they actually load ALOT faster than if i was just using the standard RAM. This process is actually how the phone normally works, but instead of having a "limit" ive basically unlimited my phone in that sense. At least that's what ive read, and understand how it works. I could be wrong ;) Both the OC and VM/DP Mod are very stable and I have done a bit of work to them both myself as to lessen the amounts of random resprings.

Here's an idea for you guys who like the cleaner springboard look.... How about no icons? Lol.

I tried this once just for ***** and giggles, but actually love it now. I use activator gestures for the stuff I use most. I access the stuff I would have in my dock (music, phone, Facebook) by short hold, long hold and triple press of home button. Double tap status bar for settings. Swipe down left side of screen for camera, right side for my spending app.

And then for the rest of my apps I have one activator menu set up and I access it with a double press of the home button.

It really allows you to enjoy your wallpaper because there's no ugly ass icons in the way.

I have one homescreen (my first one) for that! :D

Well, just one icon on it anyway.

Home key press once, (not in app) goes to lock screen. Press twice, standard switcher (default). Press three times, camera. Hold Home button, SpringFlash. Tap left side status bar, Call Bar. Tap right side status bar, Quick Compose SMS (from biteSMS). Tap status bar (center) once = LastApp, return to previous app.

I use the default buttons/gestures for the rest. In my dock I have FolderEnhancer so I can scroll to a second page and use a quick jump to the homescreen I want. I can also call up NC and use WeeSpaces to do the same. Also using AppCenter in the NC so I can literally call any app I want by scrolling to the one I want.

On my lock screen, tap home, unlock. Press home twice, music controls (default), press home three times, camera. Press home and hold, Spring Flash.

Works for me. :)

I really dig that activator lets everyone get there own style of how the UI "handles." I personally HATE having to use the home button for anything, touch and gestures are the SHEET! but everyone is so different so its cool to read about everyone's style too. Thats partly why i started this thread, so i could read what other people have done and to get some creative ideas to improve my own! Ive actually set my statusbar slide left-to-right to QuickCompose in iRealSMS, and Right-to-left slide is bring up callbar app. My favorite new app that incorporates Tap Gestures is QuickShoot, Tap the camera button twice to take a picture without opening the app(from SB no preview)

Yeah, there's always ideas in seeing other's setups. Unapologetically, I tend to mimic the layout as close as I can to my old HTC Touch Pro. It of course has more physical buttons but I used that phone for everything for the last 3 years and really enjoyed it. So, I try to mimic the button setups/gestures as best I can. Keeps the learning curve as straight as I can get it.

I like the idea of QuickShoot (I've seen it in Cydia), but that's dangerous in my hands. Pictures of feet, upside down cieling photos, blurry pics, probably at some point inappropriate or embarrasing (to me) pics…no I'll stick with seeing what I want to get a pic of, LOL! I usually end up uploading it to FaceBook after that so it's already a process anyway. But I can definetely see how handy that is for others. Options are always good!

Since i travel RTW its REALLY nice! i can see something like someone picking their nose, a bird flying by, something that i need to snap quick (iphone 3gs cam app is slow to open at times) and get that pic really quick!

This is my springboard, no icons at all. No scrolling through springboard pages. No dock icons. Nothing. Just a wallpaper.

And then one menu. I guess it's a little androidish maybe?

It is very interesting seeing how other people set up their phones.

How do you get that menu?

fizz7283 has the older version of 1PASSWORD on his iDevice.
I used to own it but once deleted from my iTunes account, can't get it back.

Had to go with the newer (much more expensive) version.

Yeah, I'm really bored with icons too and especially since so many of them are ugly lol

I hide all of them through springtomize. I make a menu through activator to access them and use double press of the home button to bring up the menu. Since the apps are all hidden, they don't show in the multitasking bar, so that's why I decided to use double press of home button. Multitasking tray does no good for me anymore, so I don't lose any function from not being able to access it.

How do you get that menu?

You have to create a menu in activator. Just add all of the apps you want to access into the menu and it shows up like that. In my case, it's all my apps except ones like stocks, contacts, stuff I want completely hidden.

You can't download it from the previous purchased apps on the device? iTunes wouldn't let me sync it from the computer, but I was able to download it on the phone from previous purchases apps, thankfully. I had purchased 1password and 1password pro over the last few years. No way in hell was I paying another $18 for a new app.

No!
Usually, yes. But when and app is killed permanently such as 1Password and 1Password Pro was there is no getting it back (even under 'purchased' with iTunes)!

i did this:
14HS.PNG

a few icons, then 4 folders (text icons) with everything else (and a handful of 'hidden' apps...gamecenter, etc..things i never need).

but will check out fizz7283's idea...

its a phone!

all jb does is allow you creater customisation and looks but once you are happy with it just see it for what it is.

i too enjoyed the process of installing and customising **** but its done now, and the notion of returning it to a boring and limited non-jb device is enough to appreciate what it has become.

Interesting, in the App Store I was able to download it under the purchased section in the updates section. Thankfully. Why did agilebits even get rid of the older apps? Definitely not fair to users who had purchased the previous versions. I paid for 1password and for 1password pro. I shouldn't have to pay $17.99 for the same app again just because they got rid of them or combined the functions of the two.

Thankfully I can still download it on my iPhone from the App Store in the purchased section. I just can't sync it from my computer.
