I am taking a class on AE and Resolve color correction at the local community college. Except for one person, everyone is 1/3 my age. We are using 10-year old HP Xeon systems running Windows. The instructor was trying to show the class how to do something, and was unsuccessful with Quicktime, and mumbled, "I guess you need QuickTime Pro to do this." The person next to me asked, "There's a pro version of Quicktime?"
I never have understood the cryptic acronyms that are overused on the site for some reason. It hardly saves time to write the name of the product you are referring to so everyone, especially new users, may understand it.
There are “cMP”, “nMP”, “mMP”, “rMBP” and many others. It like some are in competition to see if they can make their version “stick” or something.
