but going back around to the DTK this is what I mean by there is a Formatted "Pentium 4" string just not sure what I need to do to trigger it on an actual Pentium 4 LOL
well well well!! I most recently got ahold of a HP Pavilion ZD8000, massive chunky thing of a laptop, proper desktop replcement sort, down to having a desktop i915P chipset and LGA775 Pentium 4 CPU, so of course I shoehorned tiger onto it, and I was most surprised to see that in About this Mac, "Pentium 4" was properly formatted!
and what desktop LGA775 Pentium 4 CPU is this exactly ? well not the exact Pentium 4 661 used in the DTK, but it is a Prescott-2M which is the same family of CPU used in the DTK, and low and behold it seems that, that is what is needed to trigger the formatted string in about this mac, I guess there is some sort of "if CPUID is exactly this then show formatted Pentium 4 string, if not, then just pull string directly from CPU"
and here I was thinking it must of been some sort of specfic SMBIOS setting/thing in the DTK's own BIOS, although that being said, I have not tried a Presscot 2M CPU in my own DIY "DTK" or seen someone try a non-2M CPU in a real DTK, so it would be good to see that done before I declare exactly what it is thats needed to trigger the formatted string, but its certainly is looking like it might be a Presscott-2M CPU thats required, unless this HP Laptop also so happens to have the just right SMBIOS info to trigger the "Pentium 4" in about this mac
