I have a VISA Platinum card and this is what the policy is:
"Purchase Assurance protects most purchases made on your card against theft or accidental damage up to $1,000 for up to 90 days from the date of purchase. Extended Warranty may extend the terms of the original manufacturers U.S. warranties for up to one additional year on most items purchased with your card."
Sounds kind of lame actually...
I don't think it's lame at all to get one free year of warranty by simply using your credit card to buy the item! The general policy is that all things with warranty that you purchase are covered for one extra year with warranties up to three years. In addition, you buy visa extended service guarantee that covers it for additional years after that.
Why would it be lame to get a free year warranty and a very low cost extended warranty that covers the same things of the original warranty for up to four years???
