the glossy screen really bugged me at first, but over time I don't notice it, esp. now not switching between it and the 16 mbp. I always use it indoors so I don't have an issue with brightness. a lot of folks complain about the (mis)centering of the trackpad, but I don't have an issue with it. apparently only the previous versions allow memory upgrade, but seems that the ssd is still upgradable (second slot) but I haven't fully confirmed it. solid experience for someone that hasn't used anything Windows in over 10 years, at least while the apple silicon transition is going on/macbook 15" "air" still cooking.

Same experience here with the screen. Although is somewhat annoying, it is essentially usable inside.
I can conform that there is a second ssd slot. I had a samsung 970 around and put it in. It works like charm. Now I have 1.5 tb storage.

I've watched videos on how to add the second nVME; also how to swap the one accessible SODIMM for a larger one. I think that you can get it with 16 and then replace one of the 8s with a 16 for a total of 24 GB.

Sadly on the 2021 variant it is not possible. The RAM is soldered. I would have upgraded it even more because I bought the base 8gb ram model.

If I stick with this long enough, I might get get a larger drive for the main slot. Do you notice it any warmer (on the lap) with 2 ssds vs when there was 1?

Right that’s the 10th gen intel model, they are still around..but apparently don’t have usb-c. Aside, I’m also not sure the 2022 model have hit the states yet.

No issues with 2 ssd's. I noticed no excessive heat or battery drain.
I have 2 installed, the original ssd and a 1 tb samsung 970 evo.

Some other observations:
-Finder is worlds better than Windows Explorer for filesystem navigation and search. For instance, it doesnt always update when a new file is saved or it wont pop up the Explorer in a reasonable time, and if I click multiple times, after a few minutes it will open that many Explorer Windows. Eh..
-The keybindings i set up to have alt-c (v) map to ctrl-c (v) dont work on my external apple keyboard, well there is no alt key after all.
-Just the overall OS feel isn't quite as put together, but of course you all knew that : )
