Amen...and it's only been hammered to death because there's still a glaring hole in the lineup where it belongs. That's no reason to stop talking about it :D . I don't, however, think that mini's can wait until Santa Rosa for a bump; something along the lines of C2D's for both models and a gig of RAM on the high-ender, perhaps at the same pricepoints, seem like a likely tide-them-over-for-Santa-Rosa udpate.

Or maybe that's just cuz I want to buy one  .

I hear ya there. They will most likely see just that, a C2D drop in soon, allowing them to be the last of the Santa Rosa upgrades in Aug-Oct behind the iMacs and MacBooks.

Uhg. I wish they would make a Mac Pro mini. Or a Mac mini Pro. Or whatever. Just something between the mini and the Pro that isn't an AIO. All I ask is a PCI-X slot for an upgradable GPU, 4 RAM slots, 2x3.5" drive bay, 1x5.25" bay. 2xFW400, 1xFW800, 4xUSB2, .11n, BT2, a single dual core CPU, and one other generic internal expansion slot be it PCI, PCMCIA, those new express cards the MacBook Pros take, anything. And a price tag running from, say, $999 to $1499 depending on the options. And a cool case. Like the Cube. Heck, I'll take 2 RAM slots and 1 3.5" drive bay.

Exactly, I said basically the same thing in this thread

introducing this March/April the

Mac Pro Jr.
- similar smaller anodized Silver case.
500GB HDD, room for 2 full 3.5" HDDs.
4 GBs RAM
Conroe, Woodcrest or Kentsfield CPU.
dedicated graphics in PCI slot.
2nd PCI slot.
Standard 1 FW 800, 2FW 400, 4 USB 2.0
Airport Extreme N and Bluetooth 2.0
Without Keyboard & Mouse.
$1500-$1900

Bundled with Keyboard, Mouse, and Apple Monitors giving $100-$200 combined discount off separate prices, based on monitor price. (100,150,200)

Give me a 2.4 to 2.66 (Core Duo Conroe or Woodcrest, one chip dual, not a quad like the Mac Pro)
with a 500GB HDD (I'd settle for a 250 or 320)
1GB RAM (upgradable to 2x1GB for $200-250) and more for 3 or 4x1GB of course
3-4 video card options, honestly I don't care, 128MB stock, $75-100 for the 256 upgrade like the 24" iMac

Base price $1599
$1949 as configured with RAM & 256 Video
add $925 for Wireless Keyboard & Mouse ($75) and 23" Apple Display ($849)

Total $2874

Hook. Line. And. Sinker.

I really think Apple would sell more displays for Minis, Mac Pros, and Mac Pro Jrs. if they gave a bundling discount for computer + display.

Right...I hadn't even looked outside my pathetic little window of immediate gratification to see the big picture; this actually makes perfect sense. Barring the major change in the headless lineup that we want and won't get, it's gotta go down like this.

I would say go for it, an IMAC makes using a computer fun again. Its such a joy to use, it never hangs when connecting to the net, never crashes and is juts silky smooth to use. The mouse is a revelation, you just ease it and it scrolls up an down, left and right. Ooo er missus
