I thought I was asking a lot. You must have been VERY good this year AlaskaMoose. ;)

:) I am just dreaming. On the serious side, I was taking photos of the Auroras with a Canon 5DII during the weekend. I was the only person at a favorite spot of mine, and there comes this fellow with two cameras. We introduced ourselves, and moments after he told me that he was from Taiwan, and now retired. The cameras he was using were nearly new 1Dx's.

I would like a book of ten "You go out and enjoy yourself today, no strings" vouchers from my wife. So I can cash them in and get some me time with my camera.

Too much? Are we only talking gifts that exist here?

I just gifted myself a brand new D750 and 14-24mm that arrives later this afternoon. This also means I will be very frugal for the remainder of the year.

Congratulations Caliber26 and a great choice. I hope you enjoy it for years to come.

Of course another FX lens can't be too far away so it's a good thing the year is almost over. :)

If we're including special vouchers from the wife, I might change my previous selection! :D

Good stuff!

BH just delivered my 810 and 14-24. It's such a huge upgrade from my d600! Beast of a camera and perfect lens.

Now if only my RRS tripod would get in off of back order.

On my wishlist is taking a trip to the worlds most famous christmasmarket and taking some photos there.

Awesome! Did you take advantage of the body + lens rebate Nikon is offering at this time? I got $300 off my 14-24mm.

Yeah funny thing, I ordered and then I got an email the next day about the rebate, BH credited my card the 300 after a quick email. Great customer service!

I'd like a stunning location with great lighting/weather while I'm there.

If we all spent as much time on location and time to photograph as we do with kit and generally got less obsessed with equipment, photography (particularly amongst male photographers) would be a healthier and more creative subject.

I am hoping for a spring trip to the Farne Islands. It would be great if the sun shines too!

This said, there's just a little bit of me that wonders if a new body would be an improvement:)

I must say that I am enjoying reading this thread and I hope that Santa (in various guises, whether subsidised or not) comes to you all with appropriately filled and bulging bags.

Instead of location I'd want a model that's as interested in unique shots and experimenting with lighting and styles as I am. I'd almost trade one of my L lenses for that.

I was thinking on getting a new camera, but I´d rather keep my d5000 a little more and acquire some lenses.

So I will gift myself with a new camera bag and either the 18-200 or the 105 micro nikkor, memory cards and some spare batteries.

The question for me is which lens to get (I intend to own them both at some point during early 2015). The 18-200 would be a killer lens for when I cover charity events (currently own both the 18-55 and the 55-200 plus a 50mm 1.8) or the 105 and begin exploring the field of macro, which interests me very much.

My plan is to instead of getting say a D7100 now, get some lenses and gift myself with an fx camera next year (A friend let me borrow his d750 and man did I love it).

So my plan would be to get those lenses from december to march, then Id love to gift myself the 14-24 or the 70-200 for my birthday in august and then next xmas the d750 (or equivalent) and another fx lens. Id be keeping both a DX (my trusty olde d5000) and an FX camera.

Nikon 85mm 1.8.
Calibration software for my macbook air.
More time to actually take photos...

...Santa, I've been very good. :D:cool:

Do you have plans for your D600?? I might be interested as that would be a huge upgrade from my D80.

On my wish list this Christmas are:

'The Art of Photography' by Bruce Barnbaum
'VisionMongers' by David DuChemin
and the republished 'The Decisive Moment' by Henri Cartier-Bresson

My pre-order of The Decisive Moment arrived today. It really is that good. Large book. Comes in a hard slipcase and with an additional pamphlet which has a history of the book. Haven't read through everything yet. Quality of the reproduction and paper is excellent.

I say snap it up quickly. It's published by Steidle so no doubt a limited print run and will sell out quickly. No idea if they will do a second print run.

2 Yongnuo 560-III's, light stands/umbrellas, and some eneloops for me. iPhone 6+ was the other gift on the list, but already received that one early.

If people are still considering gifts for a photographer who uses both the iPad and a Mac, one thought would be a copy of Pixelmator for the Mac and for the iPad.

http://www.pixelmator.com/

I use both and find them great for my uses. Much preferred over Photoshop, plus the two apps integrate so well together.

Christmas Wish

I asked Santa for a new IPad Air 2 to use as a remote screen/control for my camera. I find as I get older, it is hard to chimp my photos on the little screen on the back of my D610...
