Twas two days after Christmas,
And all through the house
Only one sound could be heard:
The “click click” of a mouse.

The offerings were displayed
On the monitor with glee.
There were so many brand new
Mac Pros there for me.

A 4-core a 6-core,
And 8-core, even twelve.
The black trash can o’ fun left
my G5 to be shelved.

Terraflop vid cards
Of custom design.
I wanted it now –
Dare not waste anymore time.

A new Final Cut station,
On a made-to-order rig.
A six-core was chosen,
With flash memory – 265 Gig.

Add two D700 cards
For editorial tasks,
Like rendering whilst editing,
Using motion mattes and masks.

Credit card, expiration,
Shipping address, security pin.
I quickly hit “confirm”
Before the price made my head spin.

And then my jaw dropped
I was stunned by the news,
The ship-to date listed
Had me all kinds of confused!

I didn’t know the wait
Was already legendary
It wouldn’t be delivered
Until sometime February.

I had little choice
Used FCP for years
I needed a new Pro machine.
But this nearly drove me to tears

January passed quickly,
And on February 4th,
Received a note from ol Apple –
“Expect your Mac Pro henceforth

It’s been quite a challenge
To get these orders done
But we promise that in February
Your new Mac will come.”

Valentines day passed
My heart ached, it was broken.
No update from Apple.
Not a word, nothing spoken.

Then, three days later
Came an email confirming
"Delivery in February
‘Cause the factory’s churnin’."

Then nothing but silence
From Cupertino town
Not a peep from ol Apple
As the month wound itself down

The Fates were in charge,
There was no cause to fight them,
As the online store kept showing
Just the status: “Processing Item.”

And then on the last hour
Of month number two
I checked one more time
If the order’d gone through.

No such luck
As the clock rounded to March.
Mouth foaming with fury
As if filled up with starch

“They Lied! Apple lied!
There’s just no way to save
This sullied reputation -
Steve Jobs flipped in his grave!”

And then, just like that
It turned into March first.
When it comes to decisions
This one was the worst.

Lost clients, lost projects
Another payday gone lost
Just adds more frustration
To the price of the cost.

Too late to change now,
But its easy to see
Next time I upgrade…
Maybe Adobe and a PC?

Very nicely written and I feel your pain! Had to go through the two months waiting time as well but I can tell it's worth the wait (but def. not 3 months :/, ask for some kind of compensation, maybe a keyboard?)

This is the best response yet to the wait yet. So many blowhards that you know just abused the CS rep they talked to. The measured humor in this is refreshing. Great job. You should sent it to Tim Cook. I'm worried now though. Ordered mine mere hours after it slipped to a March delivery. Will be an interesting test case to see just how far behind they have fallen on costume orders.

I feel really fortunate that mine (ordered on the first day) arrived January 17th.

Because I suck at poetry.

Nicely done. My new Mac Pro was supposed to ship February as well. My status is still "Processing Items" on my order status. I hope you and I get our nMP soon. It's a big investment for me (like many others, of course) so when it gets here I just want it to work like advertised. If it does, then the few extra days are no problem as this computer will be used for many years to come. Of course I wish I had it now but no worries as there's nothing I can do but just wait for its arrival.

Likewise, I ordered mid Jan, at which time I was waiting for real life comments from users but realised that I'd be waiting two months for that and another two months for mine to arrive so decided to dive in. Still waiting for mine of which I need to test and then maybe all ok, I need a second machine. It's how I run, unfortunately!! Oh the wait!!!!

Rats, a simple quick search for poems about windoze or adobe came back with poems about looking out windows and living in adobe huts:mad:

Great poem or so said the Raven!:D

Thanks everyone for the kind words and your support at this *sniffle* difficult time.

I'll shoot off a haiku when it finally arrives...

:apple: + :( =

Brilliant

This makes me feel that at least I'm not alone in my near manic state. I know my family thinks I'm crazy. They just keep asking, "why can't you just get something else?"

Were it that simple...

Great Poem. Good job.

It really is a shame that Apple has refused to address this situation and left all of us wondering what the heck is going on. Too many orders to fulfill? Doubtful. More likely a glitch in the manufacturing. Transparency should be part of a business culture when it comes to products for their customers. Just level with us. Most likely we will understand.

I always thought Apple cared just a bit more about their customers than other companies. Obviously, that's not longer the case.

No.

No sympathy for you.

In fact, I think your whole poem is utterly ridiculous because of that verse. If you are seriously letting clients whiz by and losing money because you depended on Apple to deliver a computer, you're doing it wrong.

I'll argue this one.

I have been using an 08 iMac for most of my projects. Technology has changed, i.e., 4k video is becoming fashionable. My iMac cannot handle the file sizes in the timeline my clients want, therefor, I've turned work down. Had I had the capabilities to utilize the nMP due to the processing speeds, etc, then perhaps I could have taken on projects with tight deadlines and delivered them on time.

for you to say someone is doing their business wrong is utterly ridiculous.

Its all good, HD303 - no reason to hate. Being a poem, I took some poetic license in a few places. Although I hate the photo on my poetic license card - it makes me look fat.

And whoever says Scotts have no sense of humor obviously never met the captain.

Excellent use of your license. ;) It was an entertaining read. I just hope it's not still relevant by the time next Christmas rolls around. Although, maybe there could be royalties in it for you if it does :)

If this is the case, and all of this be true,
I ordered just yesterday so what should one do?

I'm happy to wait for my six core beast, but I'd like it before Christmas, of 2014 at least.

The status says April, not too far away, but creative ideas seem to be going astray. I'll keep a close eye on this thread for some news, to hopefully remind me, the right item I did choose.

Now if you don't mind.....:)

No new news today on the order at the Apple store, although I am still amused that the page lists it as available February.

At this rate, I'll get it the same week they announce nMP2 with the Haswell-E cpu.

I feel like I am stuck in an existentialist play: "Waiting for MacPro".

Great poem! I too feel your pain!

I got the "5-7 business days delay" call on the 27th. However last night my order changed from "Processing item" to "Preparing for shipment"... Yet it still says "available to ship February"... so now I'm slightly confused

Has anyone else who got the delay call seen their order status update to an actual estimated ship date in March?

Such a mess. I feel like emailing T. Cook on this one. SO FREAKING FRUSTRATING!

I didn't even get the delay call, allthough Apple claims they did.

If it wasn't for the software costs and a required switch to Adobe CC, i'd just go PC at this point, and stick to iDevices from Apple.

A haiku for the day:

Spring winds blow me news
Apple said it shipped today
I'll know tomorrow
