Hi, everyone. I got my new MacBook pro several days ago. And once I opened a pure white page and noticed that the sides of the screen were slightly slightly darker than the middle of the screen.

And I want to find the reason, then I found that the m1 chip 12.9 inch iPad Pro also has the same situation, that is, the edge is slightly darker.

And What they have in common is that they all use the mini led screen, I don't know whether it is because of this reason or there is something wrong with my new computer, thank you!!

Attached is a picture, but it looks more obvious than the naked eye. I wonder if it is because my phone is focused in the middle of the screen, lol~

thanks a lot for your time!!!
I have the same issue on my m1 pro MacBook pro 14 much visible here look at the edge

Sorry for reviving this old thread, but could someone please confirm to me that this is totally normal and really not an issue of individual devices?

I mean what @jorisdeboer shared with us seems to (have) be(en) a serious defect, but what all the others shared is exactly what my new Macbook Pro looks like.
And I didn't have that on my old Air.
Otherwise the display is way better than the Air's, but that bothered me A LOT in the beginning.
Not that much of an practical issue for me and what I do - I think I get used to it pretty quick - but I payed a lot for this new machine and want to make shure that everything is ok with it and I don't have to worry about that any more; and that another one would have exactly the same issue, so that I can get that anxiety out of my head of perhaps having to return and replace this one and so on.

Please bear with me, I know that I act and sound childish. But that's how I am and I hope some folks can chime in and calm me down.

Best regards Q

Can you notice this when you display ...uh, not a white page? Like a mix of windows etc? Or a document with text? I'm wondering if, since now you have seen it, can you un-see it? Best of luck!

I can’t unsee it on mine. I notice it on Amazon, MR, anything with a predominantly (but not exclusively) white screen.

Standard for mini-LED displays and was first called out with the M1 12.9” iPad Pro. Apparently it’s because they can’t push mini-LEDs right to the bezel so you end up with a “shadow” effect around the screen.

this, this is the only answer.

they could prevent this vignetting effect if they made the led backlight layer larger so that it ends behind the bezels, not right at them. but that's not possible with the small bezel size of apple displays.
