1. Boot up from CD and format the Raptor as Mac OS Extendend (Journalised)

2. Install

Thanks link.

And as far as zero'ing out the 250 to make room for storage. Do that from within the CD mode or once into the Raptor Mac OSX installation?

I'd go with 2x Raptors running on hardware RAID0 for the OS, and the 500Gb as a data drive...

I'd avoid RAID 0 at all costs. How much of an idiot would you feel like if you blew all that money on hard drives and your RAID array crashed? Not to mention losing data just isn't fun. I'm sad to say I've had bad experiences with RAID 0

I edit uncompressed 10-bit video (about 60GB/hr) and my internal drive is a stock SATA with an external RAID for the video files themselves...I've never had a speed problem. Explain?

What kind of external RAID are you using to cut 10-bit uncompressed video? Can it playback a single stream of 1080i HD in realtime?

You can do either with disk utility. The fastest way is from the other harddisk.

Thanks Dreadnought. I just wanted to make sure that bits and pieces of information wouldn't survive if I was in an OS environment, but then again, that sounds awfully "Windows"ish and besides: I'm zero'ing out the whole drive anyway...

Now all I have to do is wait for the drive! I can't believe the Quad beat it here.
