Nothing that they said when they were ditching us made it seem like they were offering a service that would work for personal use. It made it seem like they wanted to get rid of us and offered no options.
Yes, they wanted to get rid of the personal version, but they DID offer options. But I'll grant that their communications were brusque. I switched to the small business version as have several others on this thread. The price increase was small compared to the cost of web storage required by other backup/archive apps. Transition to the small business version was uneventful.
I just found it to be a horrendous resource hog. It would bring the whole horse down. In Activity Monitor, it was always the "daemon" file that seemed to be kicking my Mac's ass...
I had the same experience until I realized they were saying CrashPlan shouldn't be used for system files. I think that's a drawback, but it reduces the storage required and thus the cost of the product and it reduces the draw on system resources. I got rid of the resource hog problem by following their guidelines and excluding the system files from being backed up.
