I mean it isn't as if the market went away. Apple designed themselves into a corner with the nMP which is the main reason the macpros aren't selling as much as before.
The "market" has changed significantly. Not sure why you think that (other than you just don't like the 2013 MP), but that's just your conjecture, and not backed up by much evidence.

Sorry but this is just not accurate. The computer was sold out/backordered well into mid-2014, and since then, of course this is anecdotal, but I spoke with a major LA-based reseller rep and he said it was the best selling mac pro ever.

The truth is that the "pros" on here complaining are far outnumbered by the actual people who are busy working with their mac pros, who don't have time to complain online. Vocal minority and confirmation bias. Anecdotal again but in my specific industry mac pros are used a lot on set and in post production facilities. Their small size and portability, quietness, and TB2 ports are favored in these types of environments.

It's not meant to play games. Or make VR. Or run synthetic benchmarks that you can brag about online. Get a PC for that.

It's also silly that you guys think Apple will go back in time and release an updated model with PCI-E slots and a bigger chassis. The whole point is to move away from internal expansion and do everything externally and with modularity. If that doesn't work for you, thats fine, just go get an HP z840 and stop clogging these forums with vitriol.

It's an opinion. I suppose we don't need to insert ÏMO" every time we post a comment, do we?
And what will you say if they do change the design again?
Were all the people who didn't buy/like the Mac Cube just proclaiming conjectures or were they telling Apple they didn't want a system like that?
Much evidence? Prove me wrong the market hasn't progressed or become more demanding regarding hardware resources that the nMP in it's current form just doesn't fulfill? I have been in the market for a Mac workstation twice since the nMP launched. And I still don't think it has a better value than the original cMP.
Some of us don't have a knee-jerk reaction just because we don't "like" something. We would prefer to make an informed decision.

Huh ? I am speaking after waiting for three years for some reasonable update. What make you think I ever said it was to "play"games ?

"If that doesn't work for you, thats fine, just go..""

I never get these kind of advice. If x doesn't work for you, do Y. sheesh !

One doesn't need to be complaining to an online forum in order to be dissatisfied with a product. Or to prefer the old form factor over the new. Furthermore using a product because one has no other option doesn't mean people are satisfied with it. If your workflow depends on using a Macintosh what other option do you have?

Think about what you just posted. For my workflow, I need more GPU power. I can't expand internally or upgrade my d700s, but eGPU is a part of the Thunderbolt specification that Intel has been demonstrating since Light Peak day #1. According to you, should be no problem!

read this carefully.

IT. ISN'T. AVAILABLE.

This modularity you're crowing about doesn't fully exist. Go on - show me a proven, commercial, available off the shelf eGPU solution for Macintosh that "just works".

We're all looking forward to being enlightened.

[edit]Also, the HP Z series is perfectly capable of playing games, bragging about synthetic benchmarks, etc. as well as doing "real" work. Why should the nMP be artificially hobbled by your narrow viewpoint? Get real.
