One of the members of the chronic dev team just posted a video of him using the new absinthe tool that will be used to jailbreak 5.1.1!!

Looks like we will see this out in the next day or so! Who's pumped?

Here's the YouTube link

I'm doing my iCloud backup now and will be updating in the next day or two.

My phone fee too naked without the JB lol.

I for one will be waiting a few days. Usally Cydia has issues the 1st day or two. Also many of the tweaks aren't compatible till after the jailbreak is out. Since many of the Tweak developers aren't on 5.1.1 themselves. So for me patience is a virtue and a smart move. :D

labman...I am running 5.1 tethered and the majority of the more popular apps are updated and run fine. 5.1.1 did not change anything that affected apps. The following all work with 5.1:

1. [X] iFile
2. [ ]
3. [X] My3G
4. [X] Gridlock
5. [ ]
6. [X] OpenSSH
7. [X] Dashtweet
8. [X] UniAW 5.0 (Digital_GPS_LS_Low)
9. [X] SBSettings
10. [X] NCSettings
11. [X] PkgBackup
12. [X] SemiTether
13. [X] MultiCleaner
14. [X] WinterBoard
15. [X] Dashboard X
16. [X] Icon Renamer
17. [X] Springtomize2
20. [ ]
21. [ ]
22. [ ]
23. [X] Transparent Status Bar for iOS 4

* All info below is tentative and subject to last minute refinements
* @pod2g's 5.1.1 jailbreak+untether is working out great. All devices are covered except for AppleTV3,1, which currently has no path for jailbreaking.
- the initial 5.1.1 plan used a kernel exploit from @westbaer which unfortunately precluded use in iPod3,1 and iPhone2,1
- @planetbeing stepped up and provided a kernel exploit that covers both of those. Those two JBers are the bomb!
* The 5.1.1 A5 JB is very similar to the A5 5.0.1 JB. @pimskeks has done a tremendous job supporting both 5.0.1 and 5.1.1 in absinthe
* Similar to 5.0.1, there will also be a 5.1.1 CLI "cinject" binary and redsn0w version of the 5.1.1 JB+untether. Absinthe, cinject, and redsn0w will all provide the same JB in different fashions.
- timing is indeterminate. Plans are for this week, but a number of factors can influence that.
* Please don't pirate AppStore apps (seriously, please do not).

Uh yes, don't pirate apps period. In other words don't add sources in Cydia that allow pirated apps. I hope your just confused and not saying you pirate Cydia Apps

So excited about getting us getting our new iPads jailbroken. I am ready for what the new and exciting tweaks for the new iPad.

Newbie question about a backup for the next jailbreak:
My 4S is currently jailbroken running 5.0.1 (9A405).
How and what should I need to backup?
I purchased this app --> "PkgBackup". Will be only a matter to sync and backup with iTunes and use the PkgBackup app?

Thanks

I am also curious...especially on how it handles multiple devices. I.e. I have 3 iPhones, two iPads and one iPod4. I will want to move them all to 5.1.1. They are all current JBed...only one of the iPhones is at 5.1 already. And it was a BOOGER to upgrade.

Thanks for the feedback!
