Awesome stuff! Do you have openemu installed? I’m wondering does it run well under rosseta?
I’m also curious about OpenEmu performance. Do you happen to know how active their Dev team is? Wondering how quickly they’ll release an M1 version. Also, I’m curious about running Shadow (cloud gaming platform) on the M1 MBA.

My fully loaded MBA will arrive on 11/24 so if nobody has tested out OpenEmu by then I’ll definitely do it and report back.

By no means did I need to buy this thing, but I got a really nice bonus this year so I treated myself to the base model pro. I am in absolute disbelief at the performance of this thing. I'm going to be using it for media consumption, browsing, light gaming, and light programming. Everything I've run so far has been as fast as my $3000 gaming rig. It powered through Civ 6, Sims 4, and Minecraft without blinking (and without the fan for that matter!). Affinity photo and designer are instantaneous.

Per others above, I got OpenEmu installed but haven't tried anything quite yet. I'll do that before bed tonight and report back.

Part of me thinks this is too good to be true, some elaborate scheme. I don't think I'm going to be able to pick up my jaw for a while. :apple:

I would really appreciate it if you could try OpenEmu on your m1 mac and report it back here. I’m only playing super old consoles such as gba and snes. I hope openemu can run them fine under rosseta.

They must have acquired advanced alien technology.

I suspect that the fast launch times are a result of OS-level optimizations for the M1. Launching apps doesn't seem to be a CPU-bound operation, and the SSD isn't *that* much faster than the fastest Intel-based Macs.

The big step up in single core performance will help there also.

Damn, it's actually really pleasing to see a computer working as intended and being so snappy!

Can't wait to get the 16-inch M1(X) MBP next year :D

Oooo, my turn! Just for an 8/256 Pro today! The cost differential with Education pricing was about $50 to upgrade to the Pro that has a fan, bigger battery, and a larger trackpad (and the Touch Bar which I'm not thrilled about, but it wasn't a deal-breaker). I'll corroborate what everyone has been saying: super-snappy! And 4K videos in Safari are stutter-free! No more Chrome! Woohoo!

Worth every penny thus far!

I can't wait to see where Apple takes their silicon, these Air's are so fast. Just playing a game tonight that requires a dedicated graphics card on both the PC and Intel Macs, and here I am playing it on a M1 Air with the highest graphic settings in game, on a fanless MacBook AND it was running off the battery! Silk smooth.
