Flashlight! We need an option to remap the Lock Screen toggles camera/flashlight to anything we want.. now that we have the action button. Right? Frankly I would love to just hide them all together, iOS 18 maybe Lol

Camera for sure. I do hope it's long press to activate, short press to take a picture.

Shortcut to my most used app, Dexcom G6 (Continuous Glucose Monitor), or the OG silent switch. Too bad Apple didn't use 3D Touch-like Peek and Pop, or force touch to make the button do more than one thing.

I am a little confused though. If you map it to do something other than vibrate, how to you get your phone to switch in and out of vibrate when you want to?

I really hope ringer can be changed by focus modes and shortcuts after this. I want my ringer on at home and to turn off automatically when I leave. It would be nice to finally be able to do this.
This is what I’ve been wanting for a while. So glad that the silence mode is now no longer tied to a physical switch. Going further, it’d be awesome if future versions of iOS and iPadOS could sense which device I’m currently using, enabling notification sounds on that device and muting the others. It drives me crazy when the ringer volume is on on both and I get a notification on one, followed by the same notification sound on the other two seconds later.

i will use it to open the camera, i assume it will the quickest way, depends on the case as well..

Has anyone confirmed if you can say "Hey Bixby" to launch the Apple's new Bixby button?

Nice with Action Button that is customizable, if it stays on 16 Pro I hope it could be single and double pressed for other actions.
However, the UI for changing what the button will do might be the ugliest Apple has ever released.

Only way I'm setting it to something other than mute is if it allows for a double press for another action. I use the mute switch too often to not have a hardware button for muting anymore.

For me, it is a reason to not upgrade to a 15Pro.
I love the old physical silent switch and use it several times a day. What I will miss:

I can FEEL if it's on or off in the dark or when the phone is in my pocket.
I can SEE if it's on or of when looking at it, without having to unlock the screen to check (or how else can the on/off status be verified?)
When having the action button instead, and I BELIEVE it's off, and press it to turn it on, but then it was on anyway, will it then be off, so I have to press again to turn it on, as originally planned?

If Apple had spent more effort on e.g. making the tap on the back feature working better and more versatile, and left the old switch alone, this would have been a much better option, imho.

I'm gonna set it to the camera. I know it's already on the lockscreen, but every second counts sometimes when you're trying to snap something.

I was thinking this too. There are enough options on the Lock Screen to open the camera. I do hope we get a Mute option in the control center, like the iPad. I don't mute often, but I'd like to have to option somewhere
I've got the customised shortcut to Halide on the Lock Screen but a dedicated button would be better. It's a very rare time when my phone is off silent.
