am I correct in thinking Siri would beep in previous versions even when the phone was muted?

what I would have appreciated would have been for it to respect the mute switch, and only vibrate in that case. but would have still liked the beep when not muted :(

The missing audible feedback is really telling. I constantly feel like Siri isn’t ready. I do think that this is a bug.
Of course its a bug!
proof being that my iPad Air two still bleeps when i press the home button down, but the iPhone doesnt, it stays silent. If it was intended, then it would behave the same with iPad and iPhone. But it doesnt. some devices bleep and others dont. i have over 12 devices, so i know

A few days ago after a reset (9.2 beta 4) the beeping worked on my 5s for the first 5 times

Now it just vibrates

Seems like you might have skipped the discussion in this thread that addresses it all. How would it be the same if iPads don't support vibration? It simply can't be the same if they changed the iPhone's to vibrate, the iPads aren't able to do it and thus still make a sound.

ironically the ipad air 2 does vibrate - when it's playing sound ;)

I quite like the change to vibration. I've been screwed in church by accidentally sitting on the home button...
