Another day, another story trying to get around iCloud lock.

If your story is legitimate, go to Apple, log in with the correct Apple ID in front of them and they will help.

Nobody here can, or will, help you bypass it.

So how did you restore in the first place? As stated above you cannot restore via iTunes unless you turn off find my phone 1st. And to do that you have to enter the correct AppleID and password. Which would then disable Activation Lock. Sounds sketchy to me too. Sorry.

You can restore it still by putting it in DFU mode but as soon as it turns on it will still ask for the apple ID and password so you wont get far.

Updated - Reset to factory settings via itunes. Would love to do it again, but I have no access. When plugged into itunes I need to enter the apple id also.

OK, managed to put into recovery mode, force the restore, same problem comes up....

If you restored normally the first time, which your reply in post #7 indicates, you would have needed the user/pass to turn off find my iPhone. Later on, post #11, you tried a recovery without success. Just seems weird you had the user/pass the first time and now it doesn't work.

I've already been of the impression that trying to restore a normally-operating activation locked iPhone via iTunes will not ask you for the username and password until it's too late - that is to say, it'll do the restore, and then come up with the prompt.

I don't see anything wrong with the story. Not that it matters whether it checks out or not - there's nothing we can do to fix things from our end.

Find my Iphone

Hi,

Got an iphone 4 from my daughter in-law. She had not erased her data, so I did an update iphone via itunes, but did not realise I needed to turn off the 'find my iphone' feature.

Now I am trying to activate the phone but I get the message

'This iphone is currently linked to an apple ID (c*****@s*****). Sign in with the apple ID that was used to set up this phone.'

I have her apple id and password but when I use it I get

'Incorrect Apple ID c*****@s***** cannot be used to unlock this phone'

I have done everything required from these pages

http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201365
http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201441

removed it from her icloud account. EVERYTHING, but I still cannot activate it. Any help please I am going crazy!!!!

Thanks

Paul

iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.2

I believe you stated that you signed into http:\\www.icloud.com/find
entered her apple id and password

Click on findmyiphone
You then go to the top and click on All Devices.
Choose the phone that is giving you problems
Click on that phone
Toward the right side of the screen there will be a box
choose the option "Erase"

This will erase the data on the phone and set it back to factory defaults.

If you have the receipt with the serial number on it, Apple may be able to help.

True that, it was might next suggestion.

I spent hours on the phone talking with Apple about this exact situation.

I would test the credentials she provided to make sure the Apple ID and password she provided is correct. Try logging into iCloud or her Apple ID account. If you can verify the login info is correct, then I am stumped.
