Ok, this looks like the best of all worlds if you like the battery % but are having battery draining issues with it. This opens up the official apple toggle so you can turn it on and off from within settings/general/usage without using sbsettings at all.

Tested and works.

Edit: BTW I've totally uninstalled sbsettings as well - mainly because you can't play two player tap tap with it installed!

Just done this cheers, i used a plist editor makes it easier to do than in a text file.

can anyone recommend a good plist editor for Windows?
pledit gives me a few errors, and the plist file is full of unreadable text.

Is there a way to do this without jailbreaking? I JB last night, but revert back because Cydia is buggy.

No battery issues with sbsettings and battery percentage. Battery life is actually slightly better than when I had 2.2.1 non jailbroken.

Thanks hopefully this keeps my battery from draining so fast.

Cydia is buggy because everyone that just jailbroke their phone for the new 3.0 OS is trying to redownload everything from Cydia. Cydia in fact released an upgrade and it appears to be running much smoother. Try jailbreaking again if not today then by the end of this week and i'm sure things will be much better.

i've never heard of the battery % causing a quicker battery drain either.

I'd like to do this to my currently non-jailbroken iPhone 3G. I don't want to install Cydia or OpenSSH, just jailbreak, edit the plist, backup, DFU restore, restore backup. That's what I did to enable Emoji, but that's while I still had a PC. How do I do it on my Mac? I've search but I can only find reference to using OpenSSH.

I cannot get this working. Opening M68AP.plist with pledit gives me a bunch of decipherable unicode characters, so editing it is impossible. am i doing something wrong? (or perhaps somebody could upload their M68AP.plist file with battery % for me to use?)

I used Property List Editor which I believe comes with XCode Tools on your Leopard Restore CDs (Disc 2, but I think you have to insert disc 1 and it will prompt your for disc 2- PM me for instructions on this actually, I am having a brain fat.). Can someone clarify for me if the retail Leopard DVDs have XCode on them?

You can also download XCode Developer tools from Apple.

EDIT: Nvm, I see the user wanted Windows, I will still leave this post up for Mac users.

I used DiskAid 3.0 which doesn't require SSH :). Faster transfers too.

im on windows, sorry for the confusion.
pledit is what seems to be working for everyone (on different forums as well) but it just isn't working for me. im obviously doing something wrong.

it would be incredible if somebody could upload their battery percentage M68AP.plist file for me to use!

Piece of cake.
plist Editor for Windows and iPhonebrowser 1.91 is all you need.

I've attached a valid M68AP.plist file for use with a 2G iPhone only.
This will enable the toggle to turn on/off the battery percent meter.

THANK YOU!
this worked fine on my 3G iphone.

Here the better way to do this with out use pc just iphone

add the source: apt.iphone-storage.de/ in cydia and download asBattery

reboot and then go to Settings -> General -> Usage and it will be right there

this will show the 3gs battery percentage for all 3g and 2g iphones

I tried to use iPhoneBrowser to replace the plist file but the \System folder is not showing up. Does the phone need to be jailbroken first?
