Man, the list of why people prefer Android over iOS keeps getting smaller by the year, lol. Now, all I hear from Android users are customizing and setting default apps is what is keeping them from iOS. iOS 14 may be the year that a lot of Android user finally move over...especially if Apple gives them those two things.

I would say the list of why people choose iOS over android has gotten smaller. Apple used to have superior hardware and software. Samsung passed them in the hardware department a few years back and android is every bit as good as iOS. I would argue stock android is better and continues to add features ahead of iOS.

Outside of fear of leaving the “ecosystem” and iMessage, there’s not a lot that stands out to me in terms of iOS vs android. They still are better in some little areas like haptics, updates, and maybe a slight edge in app quality. But that’s it.

I would say android has more for better prices. Customization, notification, sharing within apps, more features, better hardware on the best offerings.

This is coming from a current pro max user.

IMO, one of the biggest advantages is true multitasking. Having two apps open and on the screen at the same time is very useful to me. The Note series is amazing for business. With the pen you can sign a contract or invoice in seconds and email it back. Love it. My Note 9 is definitely my favorite phone to date and the 10 is even better.

I agree with your claims regarding OnePlus. I’m really not sure how non-Chinese individuals feel secure using a Chinese phone. I would be paranoid 24/7, and even more so because of OnePlus’s shady history. I couldn’t imagine ever owning a Chinese phone, no matter how nice it was.
What about a phone made in China,. By Chinese people ? In a factory run by Chinese managers?

Google's services are the same as Apple's. They sync across any device that can use them.

Here's the thing though, as I discovered about iOS in 2011. Apple's services won't work with PowerPC Macs. This is the main reason I got into jailbreaking and the main reason I started using Google.

Google's services (mail, notes, contacts, calendar, etc) worked on PowerPC Macs and still do. Dropbox worked on PowerPC Macs up until around 2015 and with the help of a coder was extended by two years after that.

I was able to use my iPhones with my computers because of Google. So, I'm in Google's ecosystem and not Apple's. Whatever your viewpoint on trusting Google, I use them.

And now with Android 10 they have an iCloud type backup (at least on my Pixel). Going to Android it was very easy because all my services were already on Google.

PowerPC Macs? Are you joking? You still on Tiger?

iOS has a subpar notification system as well. Maybe if that is fixed, too, that will tempt some Android users, but not most or all.

Apple products are way too expensive and the price alone understandably closes the door for so many people, including myself.

I read that notifications are better.. and I also read that they are delayed by 10 min at times.. what is better about android notifications? Actually asking, not bashing, both android and iOS are great now.

I have seen a number of people on here complain about notifications being delayed on Android. I've experienced it myself. Sometimes they come though to my Pixel & iPad at the same time, sometimes the Pixel is delayed. No idea why.

There are no Andriod advantages. Period.
Ahhh, another person who no doubt got lost trying to find his way to the iPhone section with a very detailed, informative post.

Aside from nerds, I've never seen anyone say, "Android notifications are better on Android." I've used both, and don't really see a difference, especially since Apple has group notifications back. Lol. My IG, text messages, etc. messages come exactly when they are sent.

Notifications were delayed on my Pixel 3 XL, which is one reason why I returned the phone. I believe it’s because Android has a ridiculous battery optimization feature that puts apps to sleep, thus delaying notifications. People have reported that even when disabling this feature, notifications were still delayed. So who knows.

It’s really baffling as to why battery optimization continues to be a feature an Android. I’d rather have a worse battery than delayed notifications.

Nope, you are wrong. I am simply stating the fact. If you don't like it, please continue enjoying your Android.
Simple, isn't it. :)

My home server is a PowerMac G3 running 10.4.11 Server with a 2TB RAID. But my PowerMac G5 Quad with 16GB ram, six displays (two driven by a Radeon X1900 XT) a 2TB boot drive and a 4TB secondary drive is running Leopard.

So is my 2003 17 PowerBook G4 with a 128GB SSD and my 2.3 DC PowerMac G5 with an NVIDIA GeForce 4500 Quadro, 2x 1TB hard drives and running 4 Displays with 6.5GB ram.

So. Yeah, Tiger. On the G3. Leopard on everything else. PS. Tiger is crap in mixed networking environments and has piss-poor print server abilities. 10.4 Server is okay though. Why you'd suggest I'd be running Tiger over Leopard I have no idea.

My setup:

I agree regarding the best android devices having subpar hardware. If any of the S or Note Samsung devices ran stock android they would easily be the best phones in the world. It wouldn’t even be close.
Remember that Samsung and Google used to do this, offering a Play store version of a Samsung Galaxy S phone (forgot which one) running stock Android. It went nowhere. Clearly the consumers couldn’t care less on what Android version they have.

In reality, Samsung doesn’t like Google, but felt compelled to continue with Android since Samsung sucks at software (Tizen went nowhere other becoming Samsung’s watch Os).

Right now, the one having the potential for being the “best” Android in the future is Huawei. They are forced by the trade war to push their own non-Google Android, and the Mate 30 is showing some impressive hardware. Being forced in the corner pushed Huawei to innovate on the software side, and given time, it will be interesting to see. We already see Huawei surpassing Samsung on the hardware side.

The advantages, you don't need to learn a new work flow to use android devices.

Exactly the opposite...every single Android OEM has put their custom skin on top of stock Android and consequently the layout, setting, navigation, etc can be and often are quite different. Grab a OnePlus, LG, Huawei, Samsung, and Google device (just to name a few), place them side by side and you’ll find not a single one utilize the same implementation of Android. Perfect example, gesture navigation—it’s different on every single OEM.

On a Windows or Mac desktop, I can place my icons anywhere on the home screen/desktop. Same with android. I can place files on the desktop and have quick access to it. Same with android.to move files around I just drag and drop. No workflow change needed.

On iOS, you always need to learn some work around

For many, when it comes to iOS adopting features that are already present in Android... "better late than never". The rudimentary introductions of mouse support and external storage access with iPadOS will indeed pull some people over.

Apple is deliberately selective in what they bring over from Android. They pull those things that can peel off some Android users without compromising their goals with iOS. There are other things that won't come for a long time (if ever) but those things are only used by those who have use cases that reach the boundaries of what the platform can do.

Only a relatively few of us use things like USB peripherals, extended display, side-loading apps, full mouse support, universally accessible file system (including external storage), etc. on our Android devices.

This thread is a mess, but im bored so as someone who has used both extensively here is my opinion on what each does better...

Android
- better customization
- more features, albeit some can be half baked or gimmicky while others like call screen are excellent.
- better variety. More choices of devices, device size, OS skin, etc.
- better 3rd party app integration. Sharing from one app to another is seamless.
- True multitasking. Much, much better than on iOS.
- Android Auto is superior to CarPlay.
- Google assistant is amazing and far superior to Siri both in voice commands and automated tasks.
- Notifications are much better as is responding directly from notifications.
- Always on display. Falls in line with notifications a bit but is excellent to have.
- Settings are easier to find, usually within the app rather than stuck in the settings app in iOS.

Apple/ios
- haptics much better.
- 3rd party apps are higher quality.
- Better ecosystem integration. Going from one device to another is seamless.
- Support for native apps and googles native apps. This is a positive for IOS but also a negative that they don’t allow android access to their apps.
- Smoothness. Stock android matches iOS for the most part but iOS is still smoother in terms of transitions and animations.
- iMessage. This one is obvious.
- Gestures. Much more fluid than android.
- Refinement. While iOS lacks some features of android, the ones they do release are usually very polished.
- Better watch offering if that is important to you.
- Better health tracking.

Im sure I’m missing some things but they are the things that stand out as strengths compared to their counterpart. I left off hardware because that really depends on the specific device you are using.
