Advice updating my MP 2010, 5,1

Hi,
I’m looking for advice updating my MP 2010/ 5,1 / 12 (2.6mhz) core to a new faster life.

I want to add a new graphics card that allows me to update to Mojave and also connect to 5k displays. I currently have one 30" and one 23" ACD but want to be future proof once new Apple displays are announced.
I understand in order to unlock my MP using my Apple Watch, I need to update my wifi/Bluetooth card.
I would like to have USB-C ports using my available PCI-E slot.
I am adding more RAM and faster SSD drives on it.

I am eager to hear news about the upcoming MP's but my feeling these machines will start easily at $5k. At this point, I want just to make sure I can squeeze a couple more years of productive work out of my current MP. I do a lot of Photoshop, After Effects and 3D work.

Do you have any hardware recommendations for the above?
I appreciate any feedback.

If you want a graphics card update for mojave, make sure you install mojave first (by using a natively supported gfx card). Installing mojave with an unsupported card is not gonna work.

Once you install mojave, I would recommend the Sapphire rx 580. I have it and it works like a charm.
 
Don’t be too set on an ‘apple display’
It will probably be TB connection, so cannot be used with a cMP.

Humm... I thought you just buy the new card and install Mojave. My current card doesn’t support Mojave so I’m stuck with High Sierra.
OWC recommendation is the Radeon RX 580 and if I understand correctly I just swap with this card in order to install Mojave.

The Radeon HD 7950 Mac Edition supports both boot screens and Mojave... and there are some other cards also, such as the GeForce GTX 680 Mac Edition, so this isn't your only option.

You cannot keep the 5770 in your mac anyway, unless you have additional power from elsewhere.
The RX580 uses both mini 6 pin sockets.

Yep, I am considering dropping the old card anyway. Not having the boot screen is not the end of the world.

Answer to your earlier post, the RX580 is fully supported in HS.
Best to have this in before Mojave upgrade.

Refer to tsialex’s thread for full details (i.e. firmware updates etc).
 
you could keep the 5770 in there. but is a bit impractical in my opinion if it is solely for the purpose of having access to the boot screens every once in a blue moon. the 5770 takes a single 6pin connector so you could use a dual sata to 6pin PCIe cable. That is, assuming you either have two of your SATA power connections available from unused SATA bays or the Optical disc cage. I just wanted to point out it is possible, but again, I don't think it's worth it. Just take the 10 - 15mins to change the GPUs on an as needed basis should be fine

Thanks, yeah I'l just drop the old card.
I need the other slots. I have a RAID SSD using one of the PCI-e slots and the other one available I want to add an USB-C card.
 
By the way, what place do you recommend to buy RAM?
I used to buy at OWC but I know their prices are not the best value out there.
