iPhone 12. Had it since July of last year. I use it pretty heavily I’d say. Just noticed today that battery capacity dropped to 99%. Is that normal or should I be concerned?

Apples battery health again causing more problems than providing helpful information.

My launch day 13 pro max is down to 99% already.

My launch day 12 pro max took 1 year before dropping to 99%

Doesn’t really bother me, some batteries degrade quicker than others.

I still use fast wireless charging, worse case scenario, I’ll get a battery replacement once it reaches 80% battery health, that’s if I’ve still got the phone by the time that happens lol.

That's all right. There's no need to worry; the battery appears to be holding up fine.

Your 12 probably came with much higher battery capacity than 100% and it finally dropped to 99% which is why you’re seeing it only now.

Seeing all the battery percentage dropping claims on the forum, I have a theory. Recently apple changed to a 20W charger, instead of the 5W charger. Can that be the reason the battery health is dropping faster on newer phones?

… that’s incredible. It could be at 96% percent right now and be normal.

I use my 12 for about 1 to 2 hours each day, mainly to read books or browse the web. After a year, it is down to 89%. Not great.

My iphone Xs max, bought on launch day, is sitting at 89%. Using it around 2 hours and the last year around 5 hours a day.

my 12 mini, after 7 monts hit 99% of battery health, today it is down ot 87%. 5 monts later ....trash

All batteries deteriorate a bit with each major charging cycle. Lithium type batteries usually get rated at several hundred charging cycles, but tend to last longer than that, depending on how you charge them. There is a lot of misinformation on the internet about charging, but basically don't wait for the charge to drop to 20% or less before charging. The more deep cycle charges you do, the quicker the battery will deteriorate. Personally I don't let my iPhone fall below 40% before charging. I typically keep my iPhones for 3 or more years, and I’ve never had one need a battery replacement. YMMV of course. Take care of the battery and it will last for years.

I think some of your post was cut off. The part about your charging cycle worries is missing, as is the rant about Apple's evil empire. I love a good case of buyers remorse, so please repost your entire comment.

iPhone 12 Mini. Purchased mid November 2020. Battery is down to 90%. It does get a fair bit of use, charging overnight on bedside table. Optimised battery charging has always been selected.

Purchased iPhone 7 Plus brand new in November 2020... Installed iOS was 13.4.1 and was manufactured May 2020 as per the serial number... It is 94% battery health as of today... I think it started to be on 94% around December 2021 or January 2021 not sure...

I don't use it for games or photography/videography... I just have some social network apps and VPN app installed...

94% of 2900mAh = 2726mAh

Battery life is around iPhone 12 mini? Not sure since this is the latest iPhone I have... I am mostly home so cellular/mobile data is off and internet access is through wi-fi connection... I'm still pretty happy with the current battery health of my device and if it runs out of battery charge, I still have my Windows laptop and iPad 4 on iOS 10.3.3 for internet browsing...

Aug ‘19 XR, 96% health, averaging 7-8hrs SOT/day (as an ‘only device’), running an automated ‘custom optimization.’ I’m a battery hobbyist that ran my previous iPhone5/iPad2 duo (w/o issues) for ~7yrs before consolidating onto this XR ‘phablet.’

There’s excellent battery science/research data available online, and cheap/simple tools (since iOS13), that can easily double batt life if you so choose. The big problem is weeding through all the bad (imho) info - it honestly seems worse than politics these days.

Mine dropped to 99% last week. Launch day 12.

According to Apple, every 25 full cycles of the battery, the percent should go down by 1. Now, the methods that are used are not 100% accurate. You have to also factor in the battery lottery, in that no two identical batteries are the same. You might have just gotten lucky with the battery in your phone. It is not uncommon for iphone batteries to occasionally hold more power that the specs call for. In such scenarios, the battery would stay at 100% health for longer to factor that in. Average iphone users will use up to 12% of their battery in a year and will hit 80% in roughly 1 and a half, to two years. Of course, usage plays into this heavily, so does your battery charging habits. Some may look at this as "controversial" but Aaron Zollo just made a good video on this exact subject. :)
