This week I've jumped from 10 to 12PB on my mini 2. Also used every day. I was really nervous but it's actually great. Seems to run pretty much same as 10 but with new ui and some new features. Might do my iPhone 7 too but will wait for proper release.

I also have it on my mini2 and this is the best the little iPad has run in a while.

How is the performance on the 6s+ comared to 11.4.1? For me, 11.4.1 runs very smoothly on my 6s+ so I'm curious to know if how much is faster?

I'm still annoyed that I accidentally updated from 10 to 11. Was so much faster. I guess it was inevitable though.

Always download a tvOS beta profile after Apple releases a new iOS version. Otherwise Apple will find a way to update it automatically.

I still use an iPad Mini 2 on a daily basis (including today to take some notes) and it's on the Public Beta of iOS 12 currently.

Before that It's been through everything since 7.0 when I got it. I kept it on 9.3.5 for an extended time and jumped to 11 and it was just as bad if not worse than 9.x. However, iOS 12 is much faster than 11.4, and in fact I'd say it's at least as quick as 9.3.5 if not slightly better. It won't Match iOS 7 or 8 of course, since there's a whole lot more running now and newer features since then.

But IMO iOS 12 does run at least as good as iOS 9.3.5 if not better. It's primarily the 1GB or RAM that holds us back, more so than just the A7 chip, as it's not that different from the A8 CPU wise, and the mini 4 is much, much faster with it's 2GB of RAM. Same with the Air 2 and it's A8X.

Plus the gestures inherited from the iPhone X are just plain fun.

Yes iOS 11 killed my mini 2 so I upgraded to the mini 4 which runs iOS 11 much faster. However at times it’s slow so I await iOS 12.

Exactly the same here! That’s my plan.

Will you do fresh clean wipe and install ? Or just throw 12 on top?

How much RAM does the Mini 2 include? Because I don't see 1 GB of RAM going well with latest-generation systems.

And what I'm getting from all your feedback is that for really-old devices like the Air, updating to iOS 12 is the way to go only if you have iOS 11. Other than that, better to stay on iOS 10 (or 9 like in my case).

EDIT: this guy does a comparison between iOS 9 and 12, even though on an iPhone rather than an iPad (at least it hs the same 1 GB of RAM):

It's evident from the video that iOS 9 runs faster, however iOS 12 is not THAT slower -- and considering that it has a lot of new features, I'd say it's reasonably slower. The exception seems to be certain tasks like responding an email, where the lag looks more noticeable.

this guy does a comparison between iOS 9 and 12,

That test is way screwed up. The title says iOS 9.3.5 vs 12 but the labels on the video show iOS 11.4.1 and 12. No way to know what that guy was smoking or what's going on.

Read the description or the message that appears on top right. Or just keep watching the video for a few seconds. It's legit.
