I have a 6S+ now which is running pretty much without any issues (still on 10.3.3) but I saw a Note 8 in BestBuy and kinda liked it. With Note 9 coming up, I'm guessing Note 8 should come down in price from the current $950.
I'm wondering if the Note 8 would turn out to be a significant upgrade on the 6S+.
I had a 6S Plus and bought the Note 8 (first Android experience) in late September and have considered it a major upgrade:
Screen
S-pen
Form factor
Virtual home button and back button (which I love!)
Notifications
Camera
Wireless fast charge
Gear S3 (> AW Series 2)
My 6s Plus was a great phone but it seems very dated when I play with it now (kept it as a repair-period backup in case I have an issue with or damage my Note 8). I can’t guarantee I won’t return to iPhone at future date but they are going to have to really up their hardware and software offerings because this is a better phone at a better price (we got BOGO deal on Note 8 plus free Gear S3’s). It was a no-brainer to try out a different phone. This is all only IMHO of course. I respect others’ differing opinions. The other thing I’ve noticed is that with such a big, beautiful screen, I am using my iPad Pro less and less and using my phone for most browsing, emails, etc.

Instagram is a mess of an app in itself, it freezes on all phones I have used it on: Note8, Mate10 Pro and OnePlus 3T. Something is very wrong with the more recent builds of it, as these are all incredibly powerful phones with AT LEAST 6GB RAM inside each of them, other apps run beautifully.
I love how my Note8 makes mince meat out of anything I throw at it. There are entire weeks where I forget to close apps and do multiple things and when I come back many days later that app or document is still right there where it was and I just keep going.
Yep I love the way it handles multi-tasking and open apps, also device maintenance features. I thought the delayed software upgrades would bother me but instead I’m glad to not deal with constant software glitches and upgrade issues. The generous 6GB RAM is very obvious in scrolling and using the phone.
