I am on macOS Tahoe 6.10. The AI powered natural language intelligence search that's supposed to be built into the current version of macOS and Photos doesn't work for me. For example, if I type "black shirt" it shows nothing (I have several photos with people in black t-shirts, shirts or tops - or "London 2023" (it shows a jumble of photos from various trips to London - not just 2023 and not all). In the window that opens below the search bar, it always says Indexing... but this has not changed for the past 2-3 weeks. How to fix?

My understanding is that Photos will index the library only when
  • it's open
  • it's minimised (or not used)
Even when these conditions, it's not assured that it will be scanning the library all the time. I know that it's doing its job when Activity Monitor shows a CPU usage of ~5% (YMMV).

You could force a repair of the Photos library, but make a backup first, as per instructions of the help guide.

I hope that someone else will give more insight about Photos because I'm curious myself.
