Yup. The TrueTone display of the 9.7 Pro is the most accurate display that 99.9% of people will ever see, much less have the opportunity to actually own. When you compare the 9.7 Pro display to that fancy 4K TV you just bought, it will become obvious just how crappy the TV actually is, for color accuracy.

Wow can't imagine what a Pro 2 would bring

has anyone made the upgrade from the air 2 to the 9.7 iPad Pro? I could use the extra storage at 32 but I'm mainly wondering if the processor upgrade is worth thr switch. What are your opinions? Was tempted to get the new iPad but it looks like almost a downgrade.
I think from a processor "only" point of view it's not worth it to switch for the majority of people as most probably don't push their iPads to the max. The key benefits of the Pro are in other areas (in my mind):
  • Smart connector - good keyboard options....no more Bluetooth keyboards
  • Better speakers
  • Better display
    • True Tone - better color accuracy
    • Less reflective/brighter- even easier to use outside
  • Pencil support
On the other hand, it's a bit thicker and heavier. If you don't value the the things listed above and just use your ipad as a casual "consumption" device then probably not worth the upgrade.

Solid state home button with 2nd gen TouchID, and it would be perfect.
Yeah I don't care about that stuff but I guess other people do. The other big thing people are saying is adding more RAM in the case of the 9.7, but I use mine pretty intensively and never ever max the RAM. The IPP 12.9 requires 4 GBs because it's got a much bigger display to run, but I don't think another 2 gigs for the 9.7 will do anything other than grant bragging rights.

Do you have a 7/7 Plus? The new home button is a big improvement, IMO. Going back to a mechanical button disrupts UI consistency.

What about 7 Plus having 3gb or RAM? Is it because of the dual lense camera?

You are correct.

There is a segment of people who think if the 9.7"/10.5" were to have 4gb of RAM that it would make the model more 'future-proof'.

Some here (I will not name them) subscribe to that theory. They are chasing a will-o-wisp, but let them.

I'm just waiting for the 12.9" to be refreshed and hopefully, I can hold out till the first $100-$150 off sale and then buy it. (Got a boatload of AMEX reward points towards that too.)

I don't really care about TT...the drawbacks to the iPad are more iOS/software deficient than anything else.

Those who are jail-broken, have been enjoying a virtual home button for quite some time now (had they elected to download that tweak).

I dunno about whether it keeps more UI consistency...I enjoy the other, more useful benefits it brings when you go virtual.
