AirPlay: AirPort Express or Apple TV?

Yeah, that looks like it would work

Sadly the price for this adapter is half the price of the Apple AirPort Express. Maybe I should buy both the AirPort Express and the Apple TV.

If all you want to do is stream audio, then the Airport Express is perfect (particularly when you need analog output). I've got a couple of Airport Express boxes doing just that and an Apple TV for streaming video

I believe so - yes.

It is not a huge investment these days.

To me that is the key. Getting the AE and the ATV2 gives all the options at a reasonable price.
