I noticed that the case and Airpods continue to transmit their charge status to my Iphone, whether they are in the case or not. They continue to transmit even when I turn off Bluetooth. I can only imagine that they are sending this via UWB. In any case, it does consume power. Visible in the battery widget
I’m having the same issue, they keep showing in the battery widget. It shows the AirPods charging even when at 100% and the case dropping battery even when I’m not using them at all. I tried resetting them and repairing but the same issue persist.
Yes I noticed that but that does disappear after a few hours. The thing is I’m suffering no battery drain. My case has dropped 3% in about 36 hours and I have “find my switched” on which I thought would be a problem but it doesn’t seem to be
I suppose this is the intended behavior

When attempting to update my case, I find it updated faster when connected to a wire and leaving the lid open. When I do that, it typically updates within 30 minutes.

A note related to this regarding iOS devices. I’ve had issues with my spare iPhone 7 using a ton of battery with the only background action running being find my obviously killing the battery. Seems like apple has a broader find my battery problem on their hands.

Tried this yesterday but only for about 10 mins. Will try longer here soon to see what happens. Thanks

Yeah that didn’t work either. Looks like they will be going back might buy again in a month or so. 👍🏻

What seemed to fix the issue for me (for now) is removing the AirPods Pro from the Find My app. This also causes them to unpair them from your phone.

After I repaired them they still showed in the battery widget but the drain is like 1% a day.

Can someone else with the issue test this to see if it solves it for them?

What shows the airpods are frequently used? Battery usage chart? How do you know? Please clarify, thanks!

Okay. But I'm in trouble shooting mode and wonder if it is possible that it's some other device using Find My via bluetooth? You may have to remove some other BT devices too get Find My to stop using up battery.

In my case, with early iOS 15.x versions when I had my iPhone paired/trusted to my iMac so the iPhone could be seen over Wifi, it was causing Find My to suck down my iPhone battery until I reset network settings to unpair my iPhone from the iMac (i.e. entrust the iMac). In your case I only see that something with bluetooth is using Find My, but I don't know if it's the AirPods Pro 2 unless you know that you only have the AirPods Pro 2 paired and nothing else using Bluetooth.

Make sense but I only see that if my airpods are in. Never any other time. Even with watch phone and iPad being the only thing connected to find my

Just got the Pros this afternoon, got home and played with them for a bit, then put them onto the charger. Took them off the charger at 100% (case and buds) and about 2 and a half hours later the case is down to 84% with no use.

Same here.
I’ve spent many hours with apple support the past week logging BT and trying many different things. In the end, apple support suggested I send them back while I still have the option and maybe try again after they find out what the problem is and they have a fix. They still don’t know if it’s hardware or firmware yet.
I really like the sound though, but Monday I’m sending them back.

It feels like a software issue because of how many people are seeing it, but that’s just a guess. I’m probably gonna hold onto them for now since I like them and see if any updates fix it with 16.1.

FWIW, I charged back to 100%, turned off Find My network via the AirPods settings, then left my AirPods in the case for another ~2 hours and change.

Still at 100%. So it does seem to be potentially Find My related based on what others are saying too.

I contacted Apple about this problem, after trying the usual forget and pair again, they told me to send them the AirPods to repair them. I received a mail telling me there is no problem and they send them back to me… so don’t worry, apparently it’s totally normal to have such a poor case battery life for a new product !
