Airpods 3 vs 4 - This gives me hope

The case feels more flimsy but I don't really care, I appreciate that it's smaller. These AirPods 4 are a marvel though, everything I've wanted in AirPods.

The original AirPods were very comfortable for me, but they would fall out easily if I did any serious movement like running. The 3's stayed in place a lot better, but were not as comfortable because I could feel the bulbous shape in my ear. And they would still come out sometimes on a run or if I bent over with my head upside down.

The AirPods 4 though stay in perfectly, I haven't got them to fall out yet despite my best efforts. They're maybe not quite as comfortable as the original AirPods but close enough and WAY more comfortable than the 3's or AirPod Pro 2's. Don't get me wrong the Pro 2's are very comfortable as far as sealed in-ear goes, but the 4's easily beat them for me. The weight difference alone is huge, the 4's feel like they weigh practically nothing.

The 4s with ANC fit my ears much better than the 2s or 3s. They do not seal 100% but I never expect them to do so.
‘The sound quality and ANC is AWESOME! I never expected the ANC to be so effective. They are not as good as my Bose Quiet Comforts but for AirPods, it is WOW. I could not be more happy.

How’s everyone’s case ? My Lid creaks and and slightly moves…..feels cheap as hell when opening it up with my thumb

Feels much cheaper and flimsy. The shutting sound also feels much more hollow.

These AP4's are incredible!!

You essentially end up with “medium” ANC + Transparency mode in one!
(Since you can hear things going on do to the open style with no ear plug)

This is something the AirPods Pro simply can't do

Except the pros do exactly that 😂

I never knew that honestly (and I have a pair of APP2!)

I can have both ANC + Transparency on at once and dial down the level of ANC and turn up just a "little bit of transparency"?

So cool!
I have to try this -- thank you for the heads up on that! (seriously)

Besides this, however, the open design on the AP4 is the winner for me personally for the usage I'm looking for (walks).

I'm one of those who gets the walking "thump" with plug type buds like the APP (sadly)
I'm so happy Apple decided to make these!!!

This pros don’t fit everyone’s ears due to the giant and bulbous the plastic part is, similar to the AP3. The AP4 are much closer in fit to the OG which fit tons of peoples ears better

So you can use ANC & Transparency mode at the same time on APP2s?

I can't figure out how to do that on mine (have them right now)

Turn on ANC then talk. It will automatically switch to transparency mode so you can have a conversation. Once you stop talking it will switch back to ANC.

That's a totally different thing called conversation awareness
AP4 has that also (for those reading this)

So, like I was saying, the AP4 does something that some of us have wanted that plug type things like APP simply can't do .. you get full time natural "transparency" mode while ANC is engaged

It's a SUPER useful and awesome combo

This is not a knock on APP, which I have and love also
Just a different tool in the belt

I guess I don’t understand. ANC is just that, noise cancellation. Not sure how active transparency while ANC is on is beneficial. Transparency means no noise cancellation. I don’t get it. I returned my AP4 today because they are a lousy fit and didn’t notice anything different from my APP with respect to performance and features.
