I got the BeatsX today. There's a lot to like about them, but it's very annoying that I can hear the thud of my footsteps when I'm walking or running and a rustling sound when the cable rubs against a surface. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yup, I reached the same conclusion. I was pretty excited for these earphones and equally disappointed put them on.

Now I have to decide whether to return the PowerBeats3 or keep them AND the AirPods. The AirPods are too cool to give up.

I was instantly floored by the practicality and freedom of airpods.

Never gave powerbeats an extended run or any run

Solo2 and airpods work for me

Not foam. They're the typical silicone-ish ear tips. Foam tips, like the Comply ones, feel completely different.

Nice video - just case in point again how ridiculously long the cord is. Granted you didn't put them on properly yet in your video, but it was clear the cord was all over the place.

I thought the cord was going to be long for me too, I am a short person compared to everyone around me xD, but the cord amazingly just goes down my head without touching my face. I thought for sure it would be sticking out in front of me but it doesn't.

how did you set the double tap if you don't mind me asking!
With the AirPods on, go to Settings, Bluetooth. Tap the "i" on the right side of the AirPods to get to the settings of the AirPods themselves.

Thanks for all of your input. For now, I will stick with my AirPods, maybe in the future the BeatsX 2 will be interesting to replace my AirPods ;)

Why don't you try the Beats X, I will not go as far as saying complaints about the cords and wearing around the neck are overblown but give it a try.

Obviously with the Airpods you don't have to deal with that BUT the Beats isolate better, play louder and I promise will never fall out. The ear tips are excellent.

I agree with this. Again, I LOVE my AirPods but with the right seal, I find the BeatsX comfortable, sound more powerful, and having the in line mic and controls is nice. Again, totally love the AirPods and the total wireless freedom, but the beats have their pros too. Worth a try. And when I say comfortable, I'm saying this as someone who generally dislikes a total seal! They're that small and comfortable and lightweight. And the cable hasn't bothered me. The connection to he phone was my limiting factor.

A few days through my trial using both devices and I keep going back and forth. I find I'm having slight issues connecting the Beats X to my iPhone and multiple devices it's not that it won't connect it just takes awhile sometimes and I have to turn off and on the Beats to get it to work every now and then. Airpods are instant. Went for a 2 mile walk with both devices used the AirPods for the first mile and they definitely felt loose but never fell out, the Beats stayed in perfectly the whole second mile. I really like being able to take out an AirPod with the auto pause/play feature however not having inline controls is a bummer. Using Siri sucks. The Beats x seem like the better all around device but the AirPods defining have some useful features and the cool technology. Still unsure which device I'll keep

I returned the BeatsX today, I don't like the neckband flapping around, sound quality is average. Only advantage is that they offer more noise isolation, obviously because they are in-ear.

The simplicity of the AirPods can't be beat, I'd recommend sticking with those.

Consider getting an Apple Watch. Seriously. Works great for volume and switching tracks.

Finally got my hands on some BeatsX today. The bass... my god, I forgot how bassy Beats are. All bass. Gives me a headache.

Nice design and comfortable fit though!

The Beats X are not bass heavy at all. They are very well balanced. The only issue I have with the sound is that the highs are a little brittle. I'd love to hear this balance and sound signature in other beats headphones with better drivers.

People can... you know... have different tastes! Bass is overpowering in my opinion, but great for particular tracks and settings.

For those that have used the urbeats headphones in the past. Is the fit any better? Is the sound quality improved?

Not a fan of the beats line. I have a pair of over ear solo headphones. I find the sound to be muffled and muddy and they give me a headache after a while.

I bought a pair of the urbeats. They didn't fit my ears and I felt as though the sound wasn't any better than the EarPods. I returned them.

the more I read about the annoying nackband/cord, the more I am happy to stay with the true wireless AirPods. In my case, I think I rather have the comfort of (carrying in a very small case) the AirPods instead of the better sound quality of the BeatsX with the annoying neckband/cord.

yup, I am sticking with the AirPods. The simplicity and comfort of carrying the AirPods can hardly been beaten atm!

As long as you don't care about noise isolation, the AirPods are great.

The fit is definitely more stable, especially with the wingtips. As for the sound quality, absolutely, and that's generally true of beats over the past generation with the Solo3 and Powerbeats 3, but most notable with the BeatsX. They're not flat by any means, but Apple definitely tweaked the sound signature to maintain strong bass but also pull out the highs for a much more balanced sound. With the correct seal, the Beats X sound tremendous compared to the AirPods, no question. AirPods sound great with good bass in low ambient sound environments, but without a seal, the strength won't be there.

To me these aren't really wireless

Those wires look so damn annoying. Air pods all the way for me

Yea. The advertisements stressing the whole "I've Got No Strings" thing just feels like it falls flat when they look like a lengthy cord around one's neck. I haven't tried them out so I have no idea how good they are, but when you're sellign these two products next to each other, it's a big stretch to emphasize the "cordless" nature of the Beats.

I've not heard the "thud" but I can hear the rustling (almost like a static sound) you speak of, when I am wearing a collard shirt, rotate my head and the cable rubs against the shirt.

[doublepost=1487014074][/doublepost]I find the exact opposite. My pair is definitely light on the bass, if anything.

I don't know why the AirPods do not have a triple tap to skip to the next track.
A MUCH needed feature IMHO.
or the double tap skips to the next track, and the triple tap the previous (just like the inline button used to)
Then if you still want siri access, you can quickly remove an earpod and put it back in to summon siri.

LOL, no - not an audiophile by any stretch.

I did figure out the issue after I posted (hadn't had a chance to post again). It is important to pull the ear to straighten the ear canal when placing the buds, per the instructions. I was not doing that before, I was simply placing them in my ear. It makes all the difference in the world in the sound quality, IMO.

Got the right fit of earbuds? Too small buds destroys the bass. (Apologies if I'm patronising an audiophile!)

I received my beatsx this morning. They sound ok and would be sufficient for me but I don't like the way the cable dangles so I'm going to return them. I now just have to wait around 6 week for some AirPods to arrive
