This happened to me yesterday. I got to the gym to find that the case was discharged completely, the LH bud had 100% charge and the RH bud had like 9%...very frustrating. When I got home last night (after using my AirPods most of the day at work), the LH one had died completely on my commute and the RH one was saying it was still at 100% after some ~2hrs of use since last full charge that day

I have the same problem since the last update, but I don't think is the case discharging but the AirPods Pro that get the energy from the case
Very frustrating indeed

Today I contacted Apple support for the issue, first on a chat and after on a phone call from Apple
Very nice the first, terrible the second , Senior advisor
The suggestion to fix my AirPods Pro loosing the charge after I updated to the latest firmware , would be to send them to Apple and pay 350$!!!
This is simply insane. I bought the extended coverage too. The advisor told me that I could have extended when it was going to expire. No-one ever told me that : is it possible?
At the Apple store they just told me I could buy the extended coverage once not for ever. Very Disappointed 😤

I had an AirPods 2 just expire - had no option to extend and got no notice to extend. But I tried to extend it - no option to. So I just gave up. I do have AP3 so I really wasn't going to, was just curious if I could. lol. Thought the extended coverage was just for phones and up?

I thought so, thanks for checking it.
I guess the "Senior" adviser is someone next door paid to scare away dissatisfied customers
Knowledge = 0
BTW I didn't ask to the guy on the chat to talk to a Senior adviser: he didn't know what to do and
junior put me in contact with senior. LOL

@Marinier

I figured it out how to fix it:
I turned off both optimizations charge for the AirPods and no more
Find my AirPods
Since almost 3 full days , my AirPods pro + case are at 100% charge every morning 😄 and didn't use them just for the sake of testing their batteries.
I don't need to know where they are..my brain still remember it
and in case I get some memory issue I can always attach a Tile or airtag to the case : more convenient in case of loss
and they don't cost an arm and a leg like the AirPods.

Thanks for the info - I will give this a try on mine. Agreed.

Update: since one week I had no discharging battery without using them. Still 100% ?
Now I 'm going back to their normal use
Mine started losing 1.5% an hour in standby mode over the last week. Tried your suggestions and still draining. They were losing 40% a day and got worse today and now losing 5% an hour in standby. Spoke to Apple support as not sure if it’s the pods draining the case or Mine have started losing 2% an hour in standby mode. Tried all of the above and still draining. sending in to Apple for diagnostic checks

Are you still under warranty? If yes, it’s a good idea , if not they are going to charge you a lot 350$ CA the A.Support told me
Costco has the AirPods Pro for 240 $ CA.

Yeah they are the MagSafe version and only 4 months old. The problem only started a few days ago. Apple are sending out a returns pack although interestingly having tried everything, I have rebooted my iPad and that has slowed the discharge down a bit but still lost 2 percent in less then two hours so I will be sending them in. It’s not easy to know if it’s the pods draining the case or the case not holding the charge. I have a feeling that Apple will just replace the case and the pods following a diagnostic check.

started to get a 1% per hour dip there, just now... after full charge, sitting on the desk.

What was the verdict? My AirPods Pro MagSafe have started doing the very same thing.
